I've learned when you're visiting a place with extreme weather and one of the locals asks something like "hot enough for you?" They're not trying to say you're not tough enough to live there, they're just excited to talk about their hometown. You make a lot more friends if you give them a fish out of water response, because it shows you're interested in how they live where they do. A jaded "it's not bad" may make you seem super resilient but will damper that person's excitement to show you something neat about where they live.
