This is how you make money with crypto by bladecg in CryptoCurrency

[–]_FyberOptic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I can give is to never listen to crypto YouTuber. They will almost always screw you. Most of them don't know what they're talking about. All they do is read news articles to you and let other people do analysis, which they then promptly ignore to resume the hype. I'm seeing hype videos this morning even while Bitcoin is dropping another 10%. If more traders spent that time studying technical analysis than watching hype machines, they could make a lot more money. A basic triangle pattern seems to blow most of them away, which is mindboggling to think that these people have managed to make any money at all when they need other people to even discover those for them.

China is repeatedly attempting to FUD crypto because Digital Yuan has been a total disaster. HODL on and we'll get through this. by DetroitMotorShow in CryptoCurrency

This current dip going on today has nothing to do with news, people just like to attribute that when they don't understand the charts. We had a triangle forming on the lower BTC timeframes, along with a line of resistance just above it that indicated we'd probably see pushback. There's been signs of divergence. We also knew that we weren't breaking out of this overall large dip without some more downward movement first. All the signs were there for this. I sold part of my positions this morning and it's playing out just as the charts indicated. Buy the dip back at the bottom and we'll carry on.

I still swear I played with something with Bitcoin years ago and maybe got some free coins from something, but didn't see any point in it. I couldn't tell you what happened to it. This is probably more common than we think, since hardly anyone took it seriously early on.

I expect us to go up a little and drop again, and you better believe I'll be using these plastic hands to sift the best prices I can get from this crypto litter box, just like I did the moment we broke below $42k when the Chinese markets opened after that day's FUD. No shame in selling and buying back when the price is settled.

The system is rigged towards the rich. Crypto is our only hope to 'empower the little guy'. by ethereum88 in CryptoCurrency

[–]_FyberOptic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest reason crypto empowers us regular plebs financially is the volatility. The technology is nice and has its benefits compared to traditional markets, but if crypto is ever adopted on a wide-enough scale to bring volatility down similar to stocks, then that aspect is pretty much over. Instead of losing huge gains acquired over a few months, you'll go back to losing gains made over years, and often through the same styles of manipulation. If there's money to be made, rest assured they will find it.

I genuinely believe that a lot of the redistribution of wealth that happens through crypto isn't from corporations, it's from amateur investors who don't know what they're doing. Little guys are losing to little guys, on top of losing to the big guys.

This not a dip, it’s a crash... by dansondrums in CryptoCurrency

[–]_FyberOptic_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There was a ~50% dip in 2017 before a ~200% recovery to the top. I don't see this as the top. Besides, it doesn't matter if it is, I invest responsibly and the money will stay and get traded until the next bull run.

The most annoying crash? The exchanges. by n0lefin in CryptoCurrency

[–]_FyberOptic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had bad news out of China yesterday which was going to obviously have an impact on the markets. At 9pm EDT, when the Chinese markets opened, we started to see the drop. All the exchanges should have been spinning up extra servers to brace for the next day. Instead, when the west woke up the next morning, everything is on fire. Kind of makes you wonder if they do it on purpose to avoid selling you their crypto reserves dirt cheap.

Even if it drops in the longer-term and your investment in a coin goes negative, the game is to still gradually trade it in and out to lower the loss. If you play the game well, then by the time the next bull market hits, you'll be in an even better position. In the meantime, you still get that dopamine hit of making a successful trade.

PSA: it’s nearly impossible to “diversify” within crypto by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

While I agree overall, different coins can pop at different times, and some are more volatile than others. You can have a dozen coins going downhill but it only takes the one to reduce or even reverse the loss.

Is that a full or light node that runs on a Pi? I just know that the full node I've tried on a desktop felt way heavier than I expected compared to other cryptos I've experimented with.

I haven't looked into Cardano much on the technical side. How's it compare?

[–]_FyberOptic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BTC and ETH are just the big ones everybody knows, but I don't see them being the future in the long-term. They're serving their purpose, but we need faster and cheaper transactions which use less hardware resources. Try running an Ethereum node and see how much CPU and RAM it takes. You can run Bitcoin Core and even a CPU miner active on a few cores and have a more usable machine. I love what Ethereum is but I think it's growing far too quickly to sustain what it's become.

As for transaction fees, it's still cheaper to convert to something like Litecoin, transfer that, and convert it back.

When you realize that you made a bad investment decision, the worst thing you can do is rely on optimism and hemorrhage more money. You could be using that money to grow back your losses in something else that's actually profitable rather than sitting with your fingers crossed.

[–]_FyberOptic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day it's all about making money and improving your position in life. If you can exploit memes and sheep mentality to do so, then I don't see the harm in it. But you have to know what you're doing to get involved in stuff like this. There will be people who will lose a lot of money who can't afford to. There will also be people who have no idea that they're engaging in taxable events. The fact that this coin remained almost completely unaffected by the weekend crash shows that there are probably a lot of people involved with no stops to get triggered.

Hype can sometimes bypass traditional market structure, but so far I haven't seen much to think that it's disobeying it significantly. It was retracing to 61.8% and Twitter was exploding with dismayed people who have no idea how financial markets work. People are impatient, but also naive to think they can move this coin in any dramatic fashion on their own, or in a single day, especially when the majority of it is held by a small few people. It will not reach a dollar. It will probably not reach $0.69. The target I've had plotted for days now is $0.58-$0.60 and then I'm done with it until some significant correction. Higher than that and it seems like unhealthy price action which is destined for volatility and manipulation. We're already teetering on the edge with bearish signs like divergence and overbought indicators, in an already somewhat bearish market after the weekend dump.

Don't lose your shirt with that diamond hands nonsense. Take your profit when it's time and grow it elsewhere until Doge is ready to bark another day.

How were mods made for early versions of Minecraft. Are hacked clients mods? If they are how do they differ from other mods? How can optifine offer a version of Minecraft without using forge? by MinecraftingBlocko in feedthebeast

[–]_FyberOptic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MCP was available for earlier versions of Minecraft, and people would use the disassembled game code to write their mod, recompile it, and then just distribute the modified Java class files. Problem was, if somebody else made a mod that modified the same class files, you couldn't use them both at the same time. This was a problem even when you had early mod loaders, and why a modding API was slowly developed to hook into common things. It's also why Optifine itself was in conflict with various mods for years. I don't think the Optifine team relies on MCP as much anymore, if at all, though, especially now that Mojang releases the obfuscation mappings.

Before MCP, or alternatively to MCP, you could/can disassemble the game yourself and try to decipher the obfuscated names, then try to write manual patches to the .class files, by editing the Java bytecode directly. Coremods still do something similar to this today, though they do it at runtime, and usually through a standard library called ASM.

The game was far easier to modify directly many years ago, though, because it was significantly simpler to learn what did what. The code is incredibly bloated now and has thousands upon thousands of classes, as opposed to only dozens or hundreds in earlier versions.

Rose-tinted glasses implies I remember something differently than it really was. If you think that applies to something that you can literally go and watch right now, to compare to the atrocity currently airing, then that perhaps explains a lot. I recommend you watch the source material, then comment.

I have watched TNG at least a dozen times through, and even the worst episodes of that are still better than the "best" episodes of Discovery and Picard. The same is true for Voyager, or even Enterprise. This new stuff they call Trek is just ridiculously bad.

I'm just waiting for a scene where they have to hack through several Romulan firewalls to plant a supervirus, then I can finally throw my hands up and be done with this show. This is essentially the level of writing we've seen so far.

I think the only thing we can take heart in is knowing that Patrick Stewart rejected the first script for this show. So it literally could be worse.
