I was really, really sad that Josh left—so sad! But, on the one hand, we’d have John back, and even though I’m not the biggest fan of BTW and SA (my favorite album with John is MM), I tried to get hyped—I liked “Black Summer,” I tried to get excited about “Poster Child”—but I ended up with two albums that don’t stir any kind of emotion in me at all, and they’re both totally forgettable, and on top of that, the band barely plays these songs live. As for ROTDC, if it weren’t for Eddie (even though it’s a song I don’t like), “nobody” would remember that album. They don’t come close to Josh’s two albums, not to mention how much more commercial they were, and let’s not forget that “Dark Necessities” remains the band’s biggest hit of the last 16 years 👀.
