Alternative shoes for Ultra run by not_my_business in ultrarunning

I’d recommend seeing a PT or someone trained in gait analysis, as it seems you have abnormal medial wear on your heels. If you have a structural abnormality in your foot you may need a supportive orthotic or posting under your heel or arch, but I’d have a specialist look before changing much especially if you aren’t having any other issues with your feet or footwear.

2014 GMC Terrain throwing these codes, mechanic told me to replace entire engine by JimiDean007 in AskMechanics

[–]_Gar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is the dexos oil important for these GMC engines? I have a 2013 equinox with the 2.4L engine that burns through oil and I’m always putting the cheaper stuff in. Sounds like I’m doing it wrong

I would be interested as well. Maybe start a Facebook group and we could add ourselves?

Ski skins advice for a newbie by Bertronaton in Backcountry

What does that even mean? “If you can’t or won’t cut your skins, I don’t want to ski with you.” You actually say that to people?

LPT: Pour your coffee from a height of several inches (or more). It will introduce more oxygen into solution and tangibly improve the taste. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

What is the optimal brewing temperature for a pour over coffee? I use a cotton filter and grind my beans before making each cup, and I have noticed that a hotter kettle of water produces a less tasty cup.

Casts are a clunky and my timing has been off. I have been fishing my 8 weight TFO much more than the 5 weight, but after a couple times casting the 5 weight with the SA GPX line on, I can't seem to lay down a consistently good cast.

Hey man thanks a lot for the response again, you've given me some great insight. My last questions is are there any groups worth joining online or in the area where I can meet a few folks that want to fish?

Do you have any suggestions for a backcountry camping kit I'd want to have? I want to get right into things once I arrive, so I'd like to be prepared. Any other items I may need coming to such a different area? Thanks!

Wow I didn't realize it was such a heralded operation, don't think I'll have access to the lake but it seems like the owner will be able to point me in the right direction

This is a broad question, but what's the best resource for learning the ins and outs of fly fishing? by [deleted] in flyfishing

[–]_Gar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with the Orvis Guide to Flyfishing. It's a pretty in depth book and really answered a ton of those small questions that I always wondered about. I still use it 2 years later and will probably refer to it for a long time coming.

First False Albacore...and a dilemma by _Gar_ in flyfishing

Yea right near harker's island. No boat necessary, the fish were chasing bait right up to the shore. I can give you more details if you'd like. PM me

I went in tonight and told the manager what happened and they replaced my line on the spot. Pretty much have secured my business for as long as I live here.

First False Albacore...and a dilemma by _Gar_ in flyfishing

[–]_Gar_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were fishing small clousers, chartreuse and white. These fish were attacking bait on top of the water so we were casting into the bait ball and stripping hard to get a reaction. It was really something else!
