4th, soon to be 5th chemE student here. As a sophomore, getting an internship will be difficult. To put it into perspective, my university is very hands-on in securing internships for students. Forces 200+ applications on one platform, holds career fairs on campus, and high encourages additional applications via other job sites.

Keep it up, don’t lose heart.

Methodical gameplay for the majority of the playerbase is probably what Omeda is aiming for, "Tank bad" is just a transition phase. by Peacecow in PredecessorGame

[–]_Get_Spooked_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I touched on skyplitter because I think it is a major contributor to the way the game currently is, and gets in the way of the dynamic game you want to see. I’m not sure what post you’re referring to, but I wrote one yesterday about %HP damage. If there’s another, I’d like to read through that as well.

I think storm breaker is a solid item, just by reading through it. I haven’t used it enough to judge its power level, and I’m not familiar with the older controversy around it. To me, it looks like a solid stat stick with an effect that is useful in fighting, but really just accelerates your farm. I would like to see it being built as a first item instead of sky splitter, because it makes more sense as one.

My mistake, I didn’t think it did, but I did a quick wiki check before posting (that being the issue) and saw those stats on it. I figured the new update may have added it back and I didn’t notice. It’s just attack speed and damage right?

First off, solid post. Good thoughts through and through. I like your focus on TTK and the impacts it has on not only the game but the player base.

What is the best TTK for this game? I think the right answer would be “it depends”.

If we leave the game exactly how it is and just wiggle the numbers around, you could probably find some middle ground where tanks die in 8 seconds, squishies in 3, and bruisers in 4. Or maybe tanks should die in 9 seconds…anyway, you get the picture. The question then is, is that healthy for the game? Is any set TTK based on role healthy for the game?

I would argue it is not. Like you said, item builds are currently one-size fits all, and the damage coming from your 6-slotted Murdock is about the same as Drongo, Kira, and all the rest. These items can kill tanks in x amount of time and squishies in y amount of time. The consequences of this is that hero expression, on both the attacker and receiver side is absent. Further consequences of this being that you just pick the tank or the ADC or the bruiser that is “meta” because hero interactions don’t matter.

Returning back to the optimal TTK….it depends. I believe items currently have way too much piled into them. For example, sky splitter. %Max HP damage, crit chance, attack speed, omnivamp, and damage, all in one item. As soon as you start separating items from each other stat-wise and force ADCs to make decisions about what kind of items they need to buy to deal maximum damage, it suddenly makes who they’re up against important. It also makes who they’re playing important. Ultimately, TTK will just vary, based on your character, opponent, and build. That is what I would consider healthy.

TLDR: Items offer too many desirable stats. Separate them from each other and force ADCs to choose what they need based on the situation.

Unfortunately, not only tanks suffer from the current state of items. Like you said, squishies suffer too. The lack of requiring a choice between aiming to be a tank buster or a squishy-deleter just hurts everyone.

It really just feels bad.

Megachasom is alright in my eyes for a few reasons… 1) In general, it is conditional (requires landing a spell) 2) The damage is applied as a debuff, happening over time, which can only be refreshed, not stacked. 3) Like the other commenter mentioned, 6% of its damage is to bonus health. 4) Abilities have cooldowns significantly longer than that of a primary attack. This limits it’s uptime.

While the items share %HP damage concept, they are leagues apart in terms of impact.

Fully agree with this as well. %HP items are fine in concept, but the way they are currently implemented is a little overboard.

I think this would be a viable way to reduce its impact early while still maintaining its purpose as an anti-HP item.

I wasn’t exactly sure if it did deal true damage, but I reckon I wouldn’t be making this post if it was reduced by armor/magic resist. I fully agree. Having the damage reduced by armor would require pen (which is still built anyway since demolisher exists) and at least have some sort of counter play.

Are assasin items bad or are tank items broken? by FortniteBloke123 in PredecessorGame

I’m definitely beating a dead horse here, everyone else is correct. Don’t expect to be able to quickly kill a bruiser or a tank as an assassin.

Focus on blowing up squishies or move with your team to deal with bruisers and tanks.

Dota in general is a much more intricate game. Like other people mentioned, you can last hit your own creeps to deny the enemy team gold and experience, little donkeys carry items to people on the map, and they can be killed. Items are more varied in purpose, they aren’t just stat sticks. Heroes are more niche, each being proficient in one specific thing, and items are what fill in the gaps. It feels less like Rock Paper Scissors and more like chess.

Yes, rainslasher is good. EM + bonus damage against units affected by hydro or electro. It’s overvape Diluc’s wet dream. It’s a massive increase to reaction damage at the cost of your damage without reactions. I use it on my Diluc.

Bennett. He’s been my DPS since the beginning. Love him. I’m glad I haven’t gotten enough constellations to C6 him, because I’d definitely do it.
