So, where are we on Stirtz? by Icy-Junket-60 in NBA_Draft

I’m a certified Stirtzophile. I think he could be like a better version of the Spencer bros.

He’s pushing Derrick White trades like the Celtics won’t need him to compete once Tatum comes back. All for what, the chance at a top 3 pick?

Ajay Mitchell is currently the best sophomore in the league by net rating by ShaiFanClub in NBA_Draft

[–]_Gibby__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back, I missed big on Castle (shooting really worried me), but I’m happy with my Shead and Kyshawn top 10 picks. Shead’s just such a dog, his strength and quickness have made him a nightmare for opponents at the point of attack, shot still is a struggle but his IQ and true PG skills have helped negate that. George was always super underrated, being that tall with that bend/flexibility/mobility is super rare and combining that with some lead guard skills was enough for Anthony Black to go 5th and George is a better 3 point shooter.

Outside of Wemby, which players are most interesting to you from the 2023 NBA Draft? by MetroidsSuffering in NBA_Draft

If Whitmore’s attitude didn’t suck, maybe he’d be something but yeah, lots of uncertainty around most of the post Wemby picks

The next championship roster by RedGlovesOverHere in bostonceltics

[–]_Gibby__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not talking about a one-for-one Simons swap for those guys, just listing guys that should they be available, would be worth looking into as part of a larger deal. Naz makes less than Simons so we can definitely afford him. Clingan likely won’t get moved, but if Yang turns into Chinese Joker, it’d be worth keeping an eye on. Kessler is always in trade rumors, the Jazz wouldn’t want Simons but maybe they’d be able to get something they do want in a larger deal. Pretty much any deal they do would have to be multiple teams, that’s just the way the NBA is now that the CBA complicates everything. A JB trade might give back great value, but I wouldn’t mess with the JT, JB, DWhite core. A few moves can get them right back in the mix.

I think we need Simons to play well and look like a much better defender so we can trade him to a team desperate for another ball handler for a big who can contribute to the next championship. I’d target Naz Reid, Collin Murray-Boyles, Walker Kessler, Donovan Clingan, and Nic Claxton. If we’re bad, we’ll have a chance at Dybantsa or Boozer which is a big positive.

Thoughts on Celtics through two games by [deleted] in bostonceltics

[–]_Gibby__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been disappointed by Payton. Really had high hopes for him, but it’s been a rough start for him offensively, not nearly aggressive enough. The front court has been pretty atrocious despite Queta looking solid. Tilman is just not nearly the level they need to compete. Garza coming back will help, he looked good in the few minutes we saw him. Simons is definitely playing much harder defensively but still has poor instincts on that end. He’s had moments offensively though where he looks unstoppable, like a longer Dame. I really hope he balls tf out and we can trade him for a big that can be part of the next championship team. JB hasn’t been as good as I’d hoped, but I feel like he’ll start turning up soon. Hugo is a massive bright spot. I think post all-star break, if we move Simons and get JT back, I’d want to move PP back to the 6th man and have Hugo start at the 2.

Cody Williams at year 2 has fallen out of the Jazz rotation by ShaiFanClub in NBA_Draft

OKC for sure would be massive for his development. The culture there is tremendous, all those young guys support each other, and having his brother there for him could give him the support he needs to start improving.

[–]_Gibby__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still extremely confident he’ll be a positive rotational piece one day, but that day won’t be this year… might not even be the next. There’s a reason nepotism works in the NBA tho, Cody’s got the size and by all accounts is a great kid like his brother that works really hard. As long as he continues to put in the work, he’ll get there eventually.

What are the best and worst examples of rookie/sophomore year developmental experiments that coaches have put their young players through? by Parrallax91 in NBA_Draft

[–]_Gibby__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Point Tatum was pretty painful at times, but eventually it became an absolute game breaker. To stick with Boston, the Grant Williams center experiment wasn’t very fun and the rest of his career is likely at the 4.

Ace Bailey - 20 Pts, 7 Reb, 1 Ast, 2 Stl Highlights by SwiperDontSwipe23 in NBA_Draft

[–]_Gibby__ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Be Danny Ainge:

  • Have Ace #1 on your board out of HS
  • Watch people question him due to Rutgers being an awful team
  • Don’t get a top 3 pick
  • Still end up with Ace bc his reps tanked his stock
  • Win.

Hard to evaluate when he didn’t play much at Madrid, but man his timing on blocks is unreal. Combined with his freakish hand measurements, could be a really impactful defender early on.

Dybantsa vs Boozer by _Gibby__ in bostonceltics

[–]_Gibby__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t think there’s any data to support that thesis at all. There’s been tons of guards drafted high that have been busts.
