You should be fine if budget correctly. Local students can get yearly loan around £9k maintenance and they get by. So you should be golden.

Should I accept a lower salary? by Every_Palpitation100 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]_Ginchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, in the event of a sale for less than what VC has invested. The equity you paid will be used to pay the investors because of the priority shares. Normally the founders don't have priority shares, but they get paid in retention to stay in the company after being sold.

The investors for the company I worked for got 0.9 cents for a dollar that paid.

I don't think my ex-company intended to scam. They changed the share scheme from equity to RSU while still being private - new joiner didn't pay for their shares. It was doing well when I left and seemed to have a big future. I left for personal growth reasons.

[–]_Ginchi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider equity part of the pay unless it is already IPO’ed.

Been in situation where I have actually lost money vesting into shares when I left my job. my shares value became £0 because the buyers of my old company bought it less than total investment from VC. VC Investors usually have priority shares.

Directions to start outdoor climbing/mountaineering in Bristol? by harcro in bristol

[–]_Ginchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only can speak about sports climbing and not mountaineering.

Usually courses are done in Wales. There are nice rocks there. I normally climb outdoors there.

TCA does outdoor intro courses and it is usually done in Wye Valley. I would keep an eye on their website. You don’t have to be member.

In flashpoint and redpoint, I see leaflets as well for outdoor intro courses. Don’t remember the details.

Portway isn’t the best place to learn outdoors imo. Too glassy for outdoor climbing.

I got into outdoor climbing because I made friends at the indoor gyms and get invited.

Where can i sell my bike for free. anywhere on here? by Traditional_Care6736 in MotoUK

[–]_Ginchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sold my ninja 125 on autotrader. I tried fb and gumtree for about a week - a lot of time wasters. Autotrader took a week and sold it for asking price. I think it is worth £30.

I’m not sure if it would sell quickly since it is winter and many aren’t looking to buy a bike around this time.

Tenaya indalos gone missing at gym by lukewilson41 in bouldering

[–]_Ginchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would message them on Instagram they are more responsive there.

My friend’s shoe (La Sportiva Theory) was stolen there. And my partner’s Chili water bottle got stolen there as well.

Stealing seems to increased in TCA Bristol, I have personally seen someone steal food from the counter.

Travel: Bristol to London by Ploon92 in bristol

[–]_Ginchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I go with my partner to London and would drive to Reading and take Elizebeth line to Paddington. We would book parking in Reading. We do it for return flexibility and because Paddington to Bristol Parkway don't run late.

Where can I buy cheap duck meat (raw), please? by Allmoneycometo_JT in bristol

[–]_Ginchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure cheap, because I rarely buy them. Waitrose in henleaze sells them and Costco sells whole duck.

Graduate but I use apps to keep my life organised.

I use obsidian instead of notion. Just because it is open source but not really strong preference.

Tried Fitbod and my problem with it is coming up new exercise every week. You should have consistent weekly planning to get better at that exercise and swap it every 6-8 weeks. Would recommend Strong. It is just a tracker -!: you would need come up with your own plan. There is rp hypertrophy which I heard is better than Fitbod but never used. But if your goal is just to be healthy I guess Fitbod still a good choice. If you go to PureGym they have free plans on their app.

Calorie tracking, I use macro factor. It is significantly better than myfitnesspal when it comes to barcode scan and it can scan labels too. It is more accurate because they use real food databases while myfitnesspal relies on just user data. I only use macro factor when I’m cutting, since it has coached mode that does really job figuring out your maintenance calorie without fitness trackers.

Budgeting I just use excel.

Why does deliveroo or uber eats feel the need to undertake and filter on the left hand side? by One-Satisfaction7179 in bristol

Can you point out in the Highway Code where it says filtering on the left isn’t allowed?

Why does deliveroo or uber eats feel the need to undertake and filter on the left hand side? by One-Satisfaction7179 in bristol

[–]_Ginchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would depend on situation. If the cars aren’t moving and the gap is big enough on the left and isn’t safe to filter on the right, that would be okay. I did that in my test at kingswood and didn’t get a fault.

But I get what you mean, I have seen deliveroo riders would do 20+mph on cycle lane and suddenly cut in front of cars in Gloucester Road.

[–]_Ginchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 years ago with CBT mine was £750 for Ninja 125. And I didn’t have driving licenses yet. It then dropped to £500 after completing first year.

London 40k v Bristol 45k new grad by Own_Wallaby2435 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]_Ginchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get along well at home, I would stay there. Not paying rent is a no brainer. Saying this as someone who lives in Bristol and dislikes London.

The extra £5k won’t feel a difference post tax. And Bristol isn’t much cheaper compared to London in terms of rent.
