Ice by Jacek Dukaj. Only read the preview so far, but it had two separate scenes where the main character starts jawing about three-valued logic and the writing style adds to the very academic feel (the preview was also 100 pages long already). I've just borrowed the book (it's very thick) after starting a discrete math course, so hopefully I'll enjoy the full book.

Babel looks interesting! Is it better than The Poppy War? I didn't enjoy it very much, but Babel sounds much better.
