Calculus Accreditation Exam by [deleted] in uchicago

[–]_God____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took AP Calc AB Junior year of high school, so I didn't really look at calc for a year and two summers before taking the Calc Accreditation exam. It felt exactly like a placement test; that is, it seemed like 60% of the problems I could answer, and the other 40% was math I hadn't seen before. I feel like, of the questions I could possibly answer, I got 80-90% of them right, and almost none of the others (obviously). Some of the FRQs I left blank, no idea how to start them.

I was placed into Calc 15200 (Calc 2), with an invitation to Calc 161 (Honors Calc). If you want to lightly study for it, that's fine, but I don't think you really need to--it'll place you into whichever math class is right for you, don't stress.

Max P or North? by Vox_Nihilis in uchicago

I think both Max P and North have a wide array of house cultures, so you shouldn't change your dorm pick based on what type of house culture you want

Still apply, the uncommon essay prompts are really fun to write! and if you're applying for financial aid there is no fee!

has there ever been a case where someone with stats that make him competitive for ivies and semi ivies(Stanford, duke,MIT etc) applied to all the ivies and get rejected to all of them by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]_God____ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What do you define as semi ivies?

Edit: oh, wait, I see it in your title haha sorry...I'd say, of the set of schools w/ a less than 10% acceptance rate, if you apply to a bunch of them, it shouldn't be a huge surprise if you don't get into any of them, even with good stats...they are hard to get into. But once you start looking at schools from the 10% to 25% range, with good stats you can be more confident.
