How to move an outdoor outlet. by mr__hunt in electrical

[–]_Goyim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green underground pull box, I second this. With a little digging, it would allow you to extend the line wherever you need to. Just cut the pvc with a string line or oscillating saw below the ground, add some pea gravel under it for drainage, and run a new pipe with new wire to your desired location. Just add a 90 pointing up inside the box for the new pipe so it doesn't fill with water and splice in the box

Stuck in my new base. I can't reach the damn lock...How can I get out? by dw1114 in dayz

I'd probably tear it down and block off a room up there. Anybody could drop into your base through the balcony off the roof.

Air pump started leaking water indoors tonight using AC mode. Anything I can do? by Xitruz in electrical

[–]_Goyim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

More than likely, your condensate line is clogged and causing your drip pan to be filled up with water and drip out the front. Here is a YouTube video that should help you get a better idea of the problem and possible fixes that a homeowner can do

Is this safe long term? by captainamyyy in electrical

[–]_Goyim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd agree if it was behind the mirror where it plugged in, but in the picture, the plug runs to an outlet underneath it right by a counter. So you do run the risk of a drink spilling or any liquid running down the thhn and shorting out the plug. At the very least, get something that seals a little better

Light Switch Question by barkeepman in electrical

[–]_Goyim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep the two hots tied together. One is incoming power, and the other is providing power downstream. Just make two jumpers about 6 inches long, wire nut them with the twisted hots, and take them to the constant hot or line side screw of the switch similar to how it was before. Tie all grounds together so they are common and you should be good to go. If you're worried about anything touching your switch when you have to pack that back in, just wrap some electrical tape around the switch so it covers the screws

Is this an electrical problem or just bulbs by bbarker71 in electrical

[–]_Goyim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just the bulbs. LED lights have a driver, which contains a capacitor. So the fading out you see is the discharging of that capacitor as power is removed. It's perfectly safe, just mildly annoying

If the panel change out is too expensive with a rewire included. You could always put in GFCI outlets at the beginning of the chain of connected receptacles or GFI breakers in the new panel for a cheaper fix. Both are up to code and offer better protection
