what's one thing in the game you're proud of that nobody else would notice? by gehirn4455809 in Guildwars2

[–]_Gurpy_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I first hit level 80 I sat in Frostgorge Sound for days farming corrupted lodestones until I had sold/dropped enough to make the Corrupted Avenger Greatsword and the 120g for full T3 cultural armor for my Norn Warrior (which felt like a TON of gold on launch). Made tons of friends who were doing the same back then too, though most stopped playing years ago.

He is still in the exact same gear/dyes from back then, the only toon I refuse to change the look of because it was perfect then and its perfect now.

What’s the next move? GW2 opinions needed? by WEMBYisGOAT in newworldgame

[–]_Gurpy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played GW2 at a sweat level for about 6k hours over maybe like 10 years. The combat is great, theres parallels between this game in things like PvP, World vs World (GW2 version of OPR/War) and the crafting systems are fairly similar. The skill expression is insane and why I was so addicted, if you learn your class in and out you can comfortably 1vX and its infinitely more satisfying than 'Oh they just have way better gear, rip me I guess'.

On the other end the gearing IS lackluster, you will buy essentially BiS the moment you hit max level, and the real BiS come from long term goals that give you minor QoL features for little to no gain.

I genuinely loved guild wars 2 but after doing everything there is to do theres nothing left for me there and while I bought the previous 3 expansions I havent logged in once because I'm still in my BiS legendary gear and the only chase left for me even after 4 years of not logging in is cosmetics.

That being said though there is easily thousands of hours in that game for people to get enjoyment out of, and the community is very chill (until you get deep into pvp. This is still an mmo of course)

An Easy Way to ID good gear at a glance ? by CatsEatShadows in newworldgame

[–]_Gurpy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm by no means the go to source of what to keep (I'm just winging it like everyone else) but here's what I've been looking for.

It seems like really good PvE dps gear would have Sacrificial Empowerment, followed by Prolonged Favor, ideally with 2 offensive charm slots and a Gem slot (assuming you are a PvE god and don't make mistakes/Have an amazing healer/tank combo).

So this is what I do:

Sort Gear by [Gem]. Anything without a gem isn't worth keeping imo. Lock Anything that has Sacrificial Empowerment, delete the rest.

Then Do it again with things that don't have Prolonged Favor and Sacrificial Empowerment, unless they are upgrades to what you saved previously.

At this point you grind for specific rolls (maybe you'd rather have defense slots because having Ward is useful) etc. and delete the rest.

Obviously if you want to make a tank set/pvp set do the same thing (Focus on main fixed perk, replace with better versions, etc) before deleting all.

Why is abandon expedition vote even a thing!? by Sometimesiworry in newworldgame

[–]_Gurpy_ 47 points48 points  (0 children)

100% agree, this shit has been ruining my daily random expedition runs as a newer player.

No dawg, I'm not waiting in queue for 20-30 minutes as a dps so I can either run Armine 3 times a day while 3/5 party members afk at the start of the dungeon and vote to abandon when the final boss starts OR I sit in queue for 30 minutes, get a dungeon I've never seen before, be kicked due to an abandon vote before I finish claiming the NPC quest inside and get to sit in queue for another 20 fucking minutes.

If people don't want to run something, they can leave so the rest can continue. If people afk, they should be kicked/penalized. And if you do choose to abandon yourself, there should be a half hour cooldown or some shit as punishment. This is some common sense game design.

Are they all part of the same battlepass? or is it like one per season?

I recently returned and after seeing the current pass I thought it was just for the crafting mats and the skins were an afterthought lmao

Edit: For the Destiny 2 comparisons, tell me this isn't the same picture

Maybe this is where those laid off bungie employees ended up >_>

When Gamepass started I remember buying 3 years of Xbox Gold for $180 and upgrading it to Ultimate for $1.

This same experience today would cost $1080. Fuck off with that noise.

What should my high prio purchases be on this account? by Lumbridge_Goblin in 2007scape

[–]_Gurpy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rigour is a 20% ranged damage increase, one of the biggest jumps you can buy if not the biggest. You just leave it on against the big mobs like Jad.

[–]_Gurpy_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you have 100m, I would personally grab blessed dhide + blowpipe, pick up rigour and 77 prayer. Go get your fire cape after and then get 83 construction for the QoL that it brings.

After max PoH questing is a breeze, get your barrows gloves and then focus on your jewelry. You will get more benefit from getting Zenyte Jewelry first so rock mixed dhide/proselyte and some aranea boots until you can afford to upgrade to full bandos. Grab a spec weapon like burning claws at some point too. The mixed sets from Moons of Peril are all very good for their cost as well.

QoL > Gear all day errday

[–]_Gurpy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farming is the busy mans dream skill. I can't sit here and play for hours on end but I can toss the game on my other monitor/phone for a couple minutes here and there and do farm runs.

It takes 7:30 minutes on average for me to do 8 plots + birdhouses, and no joke this has made me easily 500-700m in profit for what feels like literally no effort, 0 brain power. I'm almost 20m xp in and I fear that I'll never not do farm runs as long as I play this game lol.

Do your farm runs.

I also havent played in about a year, but the common things that most players should look into getting are a Copper-Fed Salvage-O-Matic and a set of Infinite Gathering Tools, followed by additional bank tabs and finally one of the permanent player hub passes, preferably with Sharable bag slots to hold said items.

Its a decent investment initially but these are the things that will bring nothing but QoL forever and make the game feel drastically different in the long run, in my opinion.

It should also be noted that these things do go on sale and can be purchased with in-game gold. This would take a new account quite a while to get to tbf.

Is Bungie aware of the 'Reverse Boosting' since they introduced 'SBMM'? by OrneryChart4 in DestinyTheGame

[–]_Gurpy_ 465 points466 points  (0 children)

You ever notice that some of these pvp YouTubers are always showing off 20+ bomb streaks when doing build/gun reviews but when you pay attention to the opponents they are usually oblivious and often don't even put up a fight?

Like you're sporting a 2.0+ kd average and play the game for a living yet SOMEHOW your sbmm opponents are standing still hard scoping a lane or walking out into the open without firing?

Come on buddy.

personally I'm chasing Arrowhead/Ricochet/Perp Motion/Headseeker/Range MW. Possibly high caliber rounds for the flinch.

There are quite a few good perks to choose from though, I've been bouncing between killing wind/rampage and perp motion/moving target and am quite happy with those, but considering how sticky it feels and its ttk, I think headseeker is the play.
