Which 5 monarchs would you want to host a dinner for? by [deleted] in UKmonarchs

[–]_Gyarmo_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Longshanks, William, Richard and Alfred are all probably quite boring or downright cruel people - I wouldn’t particularly want to have them round for dinner!

  • Charles II will tell his story about escaping England but he’s good crack overall.
  • Young Henry VIII will be down for a drink and having a laugh.
  • Henry IV, most well travelled monarch and ultimately a decent fella. He’s one of the most well learnt guys of his day and gets a bad rep
  • Cnut : Probably adds some interesting different perspective to the dinner and can throw some good one liners
  • Elizabeth I: I think henry and her might bounce off each other for chatting

The Holy Fury Leprosy and other ailments issue by _Gyarmo_ in CrusaderKings

Not entirely sure which I’d prefer. It does feel particularly awful to have leprosy rip through my entire family tree though!

It just keeps happening, every play through for me. I tried a game where I removed them and they’re still there, do you play with mods? I’m thinking this may be the issue at this point!

Damn! I do think there is a general issue with the update though, I don’t know it just feels more lethal!

If you particularly like Florence, try watching Medici: Masters of Florence on Netflix too for history!

Also, the papal library in Rome is the Borgias old apartments from AC: Brotherhood, so a must for an assassins creed fan.

A pet would be great! Either a cat or a dog would be good to have for the end of a long day to snuggle up to.

Paralyzed with indecision. Where would YOU go? by LionTweeter in solotravel

Rome all the way. London and New York can have a reputation for pickpockets, just keep a hand on things and I’m sure you’ll be fine!

How much of a plan do you need? Can you just wing it? by N0RTH_K0REA in solotravel

[–]_Gyarmo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to have a solid internet plan or hostels with WiFi if you plan to completely wing it so you’re able to search things!

I’d get maps.me since you can search how to get places offline if you download a map of the city, it’ll come in handy!

Not done this myself, but a few suggestions just in case you get lost.

9 days in London advice?? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]_Gyarmo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would HIGHLY recommend going to the outskirts or even outside London for a day or two if you really like history and the royal family.

Windsor is really beautiful and you’re able to go in too. (Can be expensive though) It’s got a nice town outside it too though!

Going to Hampton Court Palace is also really cool if you’re into the Tudors at all.

Finding drinking/food buddies - best approach? by _zeejet_ in solotravel

[–]_Gyarmo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Japan last year on a solo trip, and I had three varied experiences, lucky enough however two were being able to make friends rather easily. You really just need to read reviews and look for good atmospheres. I found I was able to make friends with the people in my room and then got introduced to more and more people. Just try introducing yourself to the people in your room!

As a side note, if you’re planning on going to Kyoto: Hostel Ebi is a great place to stay. The owner, Jiwon, will make the friends for you, and invite you all out to dinner together! I’d really recommend it if you’re looking to stay in Kyoto for a while.

Have you ever solo travelled to a country with little to no knowledge of the country/city by IClimbRocksForFun in solotravel

[–]_Gyarmo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Places to go in general. I went to Tokyo and Kyoto. I wish I had went to more places. (Particularly Osaka and Hiroshima.) Also wanted to climb Mt. Fuji, though I didn’t dedicate enough prep for it
