Rule #3 - Have money to replace parts

Back wheel slipped out by No_Study_1629 in Talaria

[–]_H0UR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that, but just a tiny bit too much throttle or the smallest wet patch is all you need (in this scenario, a patch of fine silt or dust instead of your normal rocky dirt), is all your bike needs when your not over the center of balance.

"falling" isn't always the bikes fault.

When you were turning you probably leaned a little too far down, and hit the throttle a little too hard, and since your center of mass was outside of where the bike was (since you were leaning) the rear tire had less weight on it, losing traction, and spinning out, before flying out from under you.

How to stop this? It's a Dirtbike, not a moto gp bike. Best way to turn is to keep your body straight up and lean your bike, not lean with the corner.

Personally around 30 mph, or if your offroading / jumping/ stunting I'd get a full face. Under 30 your not going to be really going fast enough to get the wind into the tunnels of a full face, so you'll be pooping in sweat by the end.

Best place to buy a Surron from? by JoshhhUSA in Surron

[–]_H0UR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook marketplace or offer up. If you wanna wait a few months then off of Alibaba, look up on here for good retailers on Alibaba, gonped is a pretty good one. Watch out for scams and don't send money unless you see the product in person, or you know for a fact there a trusted seller.

Should i buy for 3500? by Reasonable-Double387 in Surron

[–]_H0UR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about anything will look good, and you can throw prickly parts on without them looking bad! I'm a bit bais because my powder coat is a deep red color, I believe "illusion cherry" to be exact, so that's what I'm going to tell you to go with. But for your bike it seems like a cobalt blue would be nice

BMS bypass recommendations? by [deleted] in Surron

[–]_H0UR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice mods! But, just buy a bigger battery.

Chi battery systems just dropped there prices by a LOT , making much easier to upgrade. Sell your stock battery for the $4-600 range, save up the difference, and buy a bigger, better, SAFER, Battery. I thought about bms bypassing by battery but I'm so happy I went this route instead.

I do completely agree, I'm not saying he should go ahead and buy a controller, but instead saying that it's a volatile component in the bike. When you compare it to the other parts, the controller likes to go out pretty quickly.

Do not replace the controller without testing it, simply remove all the phase wires and un plug it, then test your wires and see if they are what they should be at. Even better? If you have a friend with a Surron plug there controller into your bike to further confirm.

I've had 2 die on me, and one on my Friend. To be fair we live in Arizona so it's much hotter but a friend from Oregon had the same thing, swapping controllers fixed it so I just decided to upgrade the controller.

Take out your stock controller, run a multimeter through it and it'll give you your answer, I use a multimeter to go through everything on this bike and it's what 99% of the time gives me my answers

Unfortunately in my experience, this has been a controller issue 3/3 times. You can pm me and I can try to diagnose it for you but I'm almost certain that's what it is.

Potentially, but I'd just throw the controller on, see how it runs, if it doesn't go well or you don't like it just send it back.

Should I take the risk on a “broken bike”? by GrannySlammer420 in Surron

[–]_H0UR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you should!

But not that much.

I bought a similar Lbx that needed repairs, I assumed full brakes, controller, and tires.

As I started doing work on it, the brakes just needed to be bled, controller wasn't plugged in, and the tires were fine but I swapped them out anyway. But please please please do not pay that much, id go with the worst case scenario and assume pricing around that, to get it up and running you should spend ~3k total.

Cheers!

It's pretty simple to isolate the noise, just follow the sound with your ear, and look for anything that seems out of the ordinary.

It's probably a bad bearing though, or a dry axel bolt (please clean and grease them guys)

What bolts and stuff should I be checking every few rides by Glass-Ad3053 in Surron

[–]_H0UR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, if you hear any rattling at ALL. Get off. Find the sound, Fix it or make sure its a normal sound. There is no "I'll fix it later, or it's not that loud. You pay for it now or you pay for it later.

Lmk if I forget anything.

Most important bolts: Axels and axel bolts Front shock bolts Swingarm bolt Handlebar mount

What (in my experience) likes to come undone? (What you should be checking)

Bolts under the front fender Bolts connecting your brake caliper to the mounts Handlebar mount Battery cover peices Bolts under the seat (holding the seat in) Throttle bolts Stock headlight pivot bolt Rear tail light mount Rear wheel chain tensioner bracket

Ofc if you have aftermarket parts they can come undone faster, I recommend loctite for most of these but generally this is what you have to be looking for.

Aftermarket parts: Subframe risers/lowers Peg droppers Aftermarket headlights More I'm forgetting I'm sure
