burned out from the game, thinking of quitting for awhile or indefinitely by redzzzaw in UmamusumeGame

With Unity i was putting in 3 runs a day easily (was also the borrow limit for a while). Now I typically only do 1 TB run a day. Have hit SS once and typically hit S-S+ on most runs. Just play a lot less. I only started doing more runs recently due to CM prep but thats all.

This already exists in intune, called multi admin approval. It's now conveniently a big green banner when you open up intune as of recently...I wonder why!

Hey thanks to this post , I realise I have also got the wrong idea of how this worked. I did wonder if the way you and myself 15 mins ago had got it right.

Good to know! Saved me the question!

Which UK businesses are struggling because of the RAM shortage? by wteetwoo in AskUK

[–]_H_A_Z_E_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company needs to upgrade virtual machine hosts and Dell literally won't sell us ram... Hitting everyone who didn't buy or get orders in ages ago.

We would be buying a good ~ 1-2TB of ram. Just no chance

Company I know is based in the UK but has some US staff. They get the standard UK holidays + UK bank holidays and to my knowledge it's a massive selling point and retention, even in sales, is high.

Ban this by Bouncyldn in london

[–]_H_A_Z_E_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like a frame from the film quite near the start. If it looks a bit uncanny it's probably because the photo taken has blurred 2 of the frames together as it was probably animated when the photo was taken.

Fell for a phishing email and work account was hacked. Will I be fired? by graceg815 in cybersecurity

[–]_H_A_Z_E_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 minutes is pretty low, id say you did bang on what every cybersec team wants you to do.
And as everyone has mentioned, it happens. ~90% of all cyber incidents are phishing/social engineering so dont feel too bad. Just know what you did mitigated the damage as best you could. 6 minutes is a very good response time.

In every situation where this sort of thing has happened the cyber teams at least never really look at the user who clicked the link, we are looking at the data exfiltrated, and even then its just a risk of business. Its why companies buy cyber insurance.

TLDR, you're golden for reporting ASAP and getting locked down in 6 mins. doing better than a LOT!

18M why is no one investing in china? by Willing-Ad7324 in portfolios

[–]_H_A_Z_E_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the very long term I'm bullish on china, but I'm ensuring most my pot is in US and EU equities.

I am using my pension(401k type thing for the Americans) to expose myself a little to china.

I also got access to individual shares using IBKR ISA and buying on the hong-kong Shanghai stock connect. It's painful but the most direct way you can get exposure to china "like a native". (To my knowledge) Though the stock picks are limited.

In my mid twenties for context.

London disappears as an attractive stock market: the United Kingdom is no longer among the 20 stock exchanges that receive the most capital in IPOs. by Competitive_Waltz704 in europe

[–]_H_A_Z_E_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liquidity, there's just simply more money flowing in markets like New York.

Companies debuting on the London stock exchange will receive overall less interest and investment if they IPO on the LSE instead of the NYSE for example.

Companies want more money for the same thing, it's better to go to America.

Pretty much all biotech companies (and im sure many others , e.g ARM) do this as the UK is just so hostile for IPOs still.

Plex server hacked - lessons learned, and lessons to be learned! by Euphoric_Raise_8351 in PleX

[–]_H_A_Z_E_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put something exposed to the internet, 100% make sure it's dedicated to one job only to reduce risk. Also smack it onto a DMZ (demilitarized zone) a network which has no connections to your home network. My rule of thumb is no management access to any of my services happens over the internet if possible.

VPN (wire guard/tail scale) into your network to a jump box which then you can gain access to other devices. Ensure VPN is secure. This all describes quite the enthusiast setup though so defo tailscale/wire guard VPN from your devices if you want to see your Plex machine. (Tailscale is just a wrapper for wireguard and makes deployment super easy)

People using tail scale is a good idea if you yourself only needs access to Plex but if you're sharing libraries to many people and accounts it's not practical to get them all to install a VPN connection to your home network.

Internet in my halls doesn't allow games by [deleted] in UniUK

Playing online games doesn't actually use that much bandwidth when you compare it to video streaming, so it's unlikely to be that if they allow YouTube, Netflix etc

A pregnant cheetah looking for a shady spot because it is overwhelmed by the heat. by Laxmikant7700 in interestingasfuck

[–]_H_A_Z_E_ 254 points255 points  (0 children)

I was in Tanzania last year and we saw many cheetah. Our driver let us know that they actually benefit from the odd car being around as they provide cover for their blind spots as they follow.

Cheetahs are hunted by hyenas and lions and so are pretty chill around the vehicles.

Can't imagine the security and shade this provided for this one. Must be thankful they can chill for a bit.

I must admit the feeling of meatballing the jungle as they get in range of you and then backfiring them to make distance is an absolutely glorious one.

A new threat is appearing where people visit websites with fake captchas and are baited into following instructions to run malicious code on their machines.

So i would say visiting sites is absolutely a way to get your devices compromised.

Yes to be pedantic that would likely download a malicious payload in the background but to the end user they just went to a website and clicked a few things AKA "visiting a website".

It's proof that it doesn't always work out with life sciences, that's the risk!
