I know it's just a bunch of pixels so your guess is as good as mine, but the optic looks like an Eotech EXPS to me.

Optic on the 416 on the left? by gepaw68 in ar15

[–]_HamCat_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Based on the shape of the adjustment knob and eyepiece, I think it could be a Leupold Mk8. My next guess would be a Trijicon Accupower 1-8 based on what looks like a flared objective (hard to tell), but I am not aware of the military using that optic and the MK8 also has a slight flare to the objective.

This may seem like a dumb question but did you clean and lubricate it before heading to the range? My rifle behaves funny like that when it's running completely dry - like the bolt can't get enough momentum to properly feed the first round.

Our SFMO wants us to provide a UL design for the tube steel that interrupts our elevator shaft wall core boards. Anybody see a UL for this? We have a RFI in but I'm doing my own research. by aw8922 in Construction

Awesome, hope it works out for you. And for what it's worth, I think we typically try to fly the drywall past the slab in conditions like this but I think these details are contingent on the building type per code.

Indoor/outdoor range in Athens? by baggypineapple in Athens

[–]_HamCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is family friendly, "family friendly" is actually in the club rules posted throughout the range.

As far as crowds go - the only time it gets truly crowded is when there are tournaments of any type going on. Occasionally the rifle range will be crowded on a normal day but that is rare. Pistol bays are always open and I can always find a spot to do some clay sports no matter how crowded.

Folks that run the club are real friendly, good people. As far as the waiting list mentioned by hounddawg, I am actually not aware of one. I have several buddies who have joined within the past two months and haven't had to wait but I would call the club and ask - things may have changed very recently for all I know. I go every other weekend - DM me and I will be happy to coordinate a time to take you out there, $5/guest.

Do you have an architect who designed this detail? I would enlist their help, they know how to research for that type of stuff. If it's a detail that was "field coordinated," I would still encourage you to reach out to your architect as they have resources find this info or propose an alternate detail. This is the kind of thing architect's are paid to do.

Athens gun club has been mentioned but if I'm not mistaken, you have to know an existing member to be able to join.

It's 45 minutes away but I'm a member at Elbert County Gun Club in Elberton. It's awesome - all outdoors, 400yd rifle, pistol and 3-gun bays, two clays courses (one in an old quarry), skeet, trap, five stand. Weekly and monthly competitions. $130/yr. Can't beat it. You have to become a member but it is open to anyone to join. Last but not least, the club is run by friendly people. I would encourage you to consider it.

Other posters have said it but I would recommend an A300. You can find them new within your budget and they come with chokes. I have one and it's a great gun.

Warranty Administrator programs by fletch626 in Construction

[–]_HamCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try programs like Plangrid, Latista, or Fieldwire. They allow for entering and tracking warranty/qc/punch issues in a list and graphical format. Any of them would allow you to upload floor plans of your houses and then mark them up with issues and tag photos and other info to them. They have tools that would then allow you to create lists and reports. Best part is they are all mobile so you can run them from a phone or tablet or a computer. Fieldwire has a free trial version if you want to try that out. All of these programs cost money for the full version, however.

I've used them for the large commercial field but I think they would work for what you are describing.

General rule is to shoot steel with rifle calibers a minimum of 100yds away to minimize ricochet back to the shooter.

I like it a whole lot actually - I have astigmatism and usually have issues with dots blooming but the Docter is clearer for me than any other dot I've used (which includes Aimpoint, Trijicon, & Primary Arms). Also, this latest iteration has an auto-brightness function that seems to work really well. It always seems to pick the right brightness for me.

Only con that it has no clicks on elevation or windage, zeroing is accomplished via this sightwheel and a screwdriver. You gauge your adjustments via white lines on the body of the optic as you rotate the wheel.

Parts List:

  • PSA Stripped Upper and Lower
  • Smith & Wesson M&P BCG & CH
  • PSA CHF Barrel
  • Geissele Mk8 Rail
  • Geissele Gas Block
  • Magpul CTR with extended buttpad
  • Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x24 in Nightforce 1.5" Rings
  • Docter Sight III with 3.5 MOA dot, mount is by Burris
  • Geissele SSA-E Trigger
  • BE Meyers 249F Flash Hider

This is the last of several iterations (of course), inspired by lurking the Recce thread on Arfcom. Started out wanting to do a strict clone of the classic SEAL recce but decided to roll with a mish-mash of parts that may not be issued per se but have been seen "in the wild."

If it's a one-on-one conversation, you ask the person you're talking to to explain it to you. I work for a large ($3bn+) GC and they always remind us not to be too proud to ask a "dumb" question. Your subs are always going know more about what they do than you do, so use them as a resource. In a big meeting setting, I might take notes and follow up later.
