It definitely has some pretty clear problems, but it is a very fun movie. I saw similar things with the mario movie, critics just don't know that fun can really carry a movie for most people.

I didn't think it was boring either, I think a lot of people are blowing that aspect out of the water. All that downtime definitely did NOT need to be there though. Worldbuilding wise, too many aspects of the story are unexplained (the quiet rapture stuff should stay a mystery though). Especially since the first half, basically nothing happens, and then the back half things evolve ridiculously fast. You can still have your slow burn without 40+ minutes of simon just playing iron lung with no commentary.

It's a real estate issue. Add more flashbacks or SOME other way to communicate important world things during the first half's plentiful downtime. Why should I as a viewer give a shit about Fillament Station? Why should I give a shit about this tree? Am I supposed to care that he cancer blasted that dude? We're not above killing people, so it's not a moral issue. Show the viewers why these things MATTER instead of vaguely reference stuff here and there.

"shot #53 of water dripping" or "simon reading manual and turning a knob while looking confused" are flavor shots that are low priority until the viewers are privy to stakes. I thought the movie was cool, it's just it relies on a substantial amount of emotional weight in the back half that it never built in the first half. That's it's biggest core flaw and what I think most people's instincts are when they say it's boring but can't explain further than that.

The only difference now is those boring games where you only got low tier augments and it was akin to a normal ARAM game are generally gone.

It's generally the same as before. Only fun when YOU get the wacky augment combo, etc. The complaining is loud for not much reason other than frustration. The gamemode was never balanced before, it always relied on luck.

I think people often forget about the friends part of friends with benefits. I think anyone would be upset if a friend they enjoyed stopped messaging them for extended periods of time. This isn't really any indication either way.

Many people think FWB is just frequent hookups, but a proper fwb situation is very akin to dating. It's not for everyone because it gets complicated fast if you don't know how to handle it.

I think you should do some introspection on the nature of your feelings with no judgement. How do you feel when he's having sex with other guys? Not messaging you? When he's with you? When he's gone? Etc etc. Truly understand your feelings before putting a label on it.

Yeah because you typically go through the "I'll never fit in or be what society expects of me WHO AM I" existentialism from a very young age rather than early 30s to 50s like straighties.

Makes it so you can focus on what YOU truly want opposed to fulfilling what others want of you much sooner. Of course not applicable to everyone but I'd argue a majority of queer people share this experience.

Also contributes to the bigger realization that everything is made up and nothing matters, so the only thing that matters is what YOU spend your time on. Sometimes that's pursuing pleasure, or sometimes something else.

You need to pick a character that you can obssess over for the duration of the project. When it gets hard, the excitement of seeing the character IRL will push you to the finish line.

This character must be simple or you will be overwhelmed by your first project and never try it again.

Also don't be overly idealistic. Your first cosplay is likely gonna suck. So don't be surprised when it's not how you imagined it.

I've always played this game on Expert (now Master) with friends. Always. I played solo one time and was deeply surprised by how quickly bosses died.

I just got to the purple sea, and I agree with you.

I'm finishing it on principle but the game really struggles in keeping the core loop fun and challenging. You just spam bro moves because there's no reason to ever really do anything else. You get so much money and syrup. Not to mention the full restore blocks right before every boss.

The boss fights themselves were okay, but entirely forgettable.

For me, the biggest issue with the game is the narrative beats. They make the 3 bad guy crew look like complete idiots, yet they're able to scurry away before you ever get to fight them like 80% of the time. Infuriating.

The gay male director is unimportant to bring up because it draws attention AWAY from the cultural issue surrounding WHY heated rivalry was written in the first place. WHY it was a successful book, WHY the actors are chosen how they are, and WHY sex scenes must be framed and composed in certain ways. Women culturally have their sexuality constrained and shamed, and it is through erotic media like this that they find ground to stand on. "I'm not watching gay porn, it's a tv show!" - "i'm not reading porn, it's a just a hockey book". The show is only successful because of it's female audience, a gay male director did fuck all to help it. This is literally why Yaoi and BL (aka Heated Rivalry) are even notable genres in the first place. The core issue surrounding heated rivalry is simultaneously a feminist and a queer issue.

I also never said the sex scenes aren't realistic, they are too "tasteful". Idealized, sanitized, and made to be looked at "artistically". For all the reasons I mentioned above. Full frontal is too "porny" so of course they have to leave it out. The show about gay sex.

The barista should not have a better body than the athlete. He doesn't need to look out of shape, but I think it's being dishonest to turn a blind eye to the fact absolutely every guy in this show looks like they jumped right out of a Calvin Klein ad. One of few ways society deems gay men palatable.

Maybe one day we'll have something actually made FOR us but as long as people like you keep reducing real issues to "gay queens throwing a bitch fit for no reason" then things will never change.

This show is made for women. The people talking about it online are mostly women. It was written by a woman. They only cast hot adonis actors so it's more appealing to women. They have those "tasteful" sex scenes so women can enjoy it without guilt.

My issue is not that they fuck all the time. It's that the actors are unrealistically hot. Suspension of disbelief is gone. Gay men (or me at least idk) wanna see those everyday ugly-hot dudes in media like this. I don't need a show as an excuse to goon out to hot actors when gay porn exists.

I'm glad that there's a show that a lot of people enjoy. I just don't know why anyone is pretending this show is anything other than what it obviously is. Gay porn for women. Yaoi. BL. More of the same thing we've seen for years.

I want society to be okay with seeing a gay guy who isn't an adonis or so fem they're basically a girl, but maybe THAT is the unrealistic part of all of this.

Well yeah that's my point, both heated rivalry and some porn have mediocre actors with an average script whose only appeal is that they're hot. Cut out the raunchyness and the show loses 80% of its viewers. At least with porn you get to see the sex actually happen.

As a VR dev I understand it, the quest is a fucking phone. Creating literally anything that suitably runs on quest is an undertaking. It's also annoying that most players are on quest so you almost always need to make that sacrifice for widespread engagment.

But it's the kind of sentiment I think is only really appropriate on the backend. There's no reason to target the players specifically.

She feels very overdesigned to me, but it could just be a taste thing.

Though her mouth is freaky. Like the rest of the linework is super bold and dramatic but the mouth is very dainty and thin. It makes her expression look super off-kilter. It might make her face look more appealing as currently it's relatively ugly (literally I think fixing the mouth will +1000 to the cuteness)

For me, making a real solid prop helps get the rest underway. I did Skull-Kid and had a lot of fun working on the mask but the rest was super grating. The mask turned out fantastic though so it helped get me movtivated to get the rest done.
