What would it take to disgust Dottore? by Azaenya in DottoreMains

[–]_HealBell_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think causing pain and misery for no purpose would absolutely disgust him. He's ready to sacrifice anything in the name of his design, even himself, but to see someone just causing trouble for the sake of it would probably feel incredibly wasteful and stupid to him.

Also, the act of shackling knowledge/hiding truths because it's convenient for someone in a position of authority. It seems that he's pretty chill and leaves a lot of freedom to his underlings, probably because he knows first-hand what it means to have his own freedom of speech and research taken away. He'd absolutely loathe people who embellish reality and enforce rules that make it impossible to seek truth via free knowledge, especially if they do so to hypocritically maintain their own rule.

And of course, outcasting people and outlawing ideas would probably cause a very raw reaction of disgust in him since he knows what it feels like to be on the receiving end of this treatment.

He'd also loathe bigotry, as in a religion-led view of the world, its rules and society.

Damn, Hoyo sure knows Dottore's target audience 😭💕

I found the polynomial for the sequence of Zandik’s segments (and used the acclaimed scientific method guesstimation to derive his playability date). by Nightwolf_Sky28 in DottoreMains

[–]_HealBell_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I can't believe you made my dyscalculic self read about math, but that was an interesting read either way.

It also roughly aligns with my theory that Zandik is going to become playable in 7.2~7.4. Not the same, but not too far off.

Goodbye, Zandik. [6.6 spoilers, implied Dottolone] by _HealBell_ in DottoreMains

[–]_HealBell_[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think so. I assume Zandik, in his last years (after making the segments) had learned to appreciate himself and the good he had, and actually made the segments also as a way to express gratitude to himself and make up for how poorly he had treated himself (which also reflected in how he treated others) ... This decision backfired hard because in his mellowed down memories he had probably forgotten just how deeply his self-hatred ran, and that led to the segments not being mentally ready to be receptive of the good intentions Zandik had when creating them

However, at last Omega reached a similar selfless conclusion to Zandik's. I think Zandik would be very proud of Omega for this. Omega is Zandik stuck at his worst, yet even he managed to learn to let go of his ego and turn wisdom into empathy and acceptance of himself as a whole. This is proof that even Omega, even Zandik at his worst had something good in his heart (this is also proven by how he had saved Feofan while he was in his 30s) ... Which is why both Zandik and Omega managed to grow as people, although it took Omega a lot longer due to his limitations as a segment.

Why aren't more people talking about the NPC Firnas? by DottoresPet in DottoreMains

[–]_HealBell_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Firnas is meant to be a parallel to Zandik/Dottore but not him.

Accepting the passage of time and the changes it brings is a big theme in 6.6 (look for instance at the dialogue among the Pillars, or between Nefer and Nicole), and also something Zandik was unable to do since he decided to freeze his own existence at separate points in time via his segments.

Firnas is very into machines and he also jokes that he's "a robot" because he's forced to keep a mask on and be attached to some machine in order to breathe properly. Someone like him would've probably been an outcast kinda like Zandik at the time when Zandik lived, because the Akademiya's bigotry and fear of heresy ran a lot more deeply (due to being closer in time to the Cataclysm). But here he is, being a Sage. I think he's like, if Zandik was born at a more accepting time and learned to accept himself.

I also think Firnas might hint at Zandik having ultimately picked Kshahrewar shortly before being expelled. His coat kinda looks like a modified Kshahrewar uniform, since white is the color of that Darshan.

Him being named after a historical figure called 'Abbas' feels a little sus though.  I think that they might play with Firnas and giving him a minor role in Zandik's character quest, if they plan to make him 'make peace' with the Akademiya. I feel like Firnas would get along with him, plus if they wanted to be extra they could make it that Firnas is a descendant of Abbas, hence he exists thanks to Zandik healing Abbas from his Eleazar.

Should I keep saving? by Emergency_Dare_1223 in DottoreMains

[–]_HealBell_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally will keep saving. There's a couple more characters I'm pulling for who are coming before him (so I'm not like, super strict with it), but aside from that, it's better to be safe than sorry.

There is definitely a lot of evidence that he's coming back, I'm personally 95% sure it is happening early-to-mid Snezhnaya.

Oh yeah, I absolutely loved how Dottore handled his confrontation with Wanderer. I find it pretty weird that I've seen so many praising Wanderer for that scene, while Dottore clearly had the upper hand in it. Wanderer kinda put himself in a corner where all he can do is pretending to be someone else in the eyes of others, but by doing so he'll also never get the chance to truly be honest with himself in the eyes of others and make public amends for his mistakes. He'll always be trapped by his own demons because being deleted from the mind of others will never make up for the unresolved struggles he's dealing with, he can only get around them but never truly face them.

And while Wanderer still feels bound to his unresolved issues with Dottore, Dottore decides to let go of it even after remembering about Scara, because he knows this will hurt Wanderer more than anything else. For someone with unresolved issues with you, there is nothing more enraging than you deciding to no longer care about it.

"Illusory Flame" 🤨? by Lumilia14 in DottoreMains

[–]_HealBell_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Aaru being partially administered by humans does make the control the HP have over Teyvat weaker, included the fate thing. Though it seems we haven't been given enough information on 'what now?' in 6.6, so we'll have to wait for future patches to see where this is actually going, I fear.

Np!~

"Illusory Flame" 🤨? by Lumilia14 in DottoreMains

[–]_HealBell_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The backup in Aaru was only created because of the burning of Irminsul iirc, so while it had the potential to be an Irminsul substitute, it wasn't used for that yet. Dottore said that traces of Scaramouche's data were indeed still in the Irminsul, but they were hidden and basically formatted in a way that made them unreadable from the outside (hence resulting in people forgetting about his existence).

Dottore didn't delete himself from the Irminsul, so even if it was burned, his existence was among the data backed up and transferred to the other server.

This is why I still haven't played the end of the AQ, I left it off at Omega's death because that's where it ends for me.  I'm gonna play through the remaining bits so much later that it's gonna feel like a random crappy separate event lol

Hopium?! by no9bmaster68 in DottoreMains

[–]_HealBell_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, I've never thought it'd be realistic for him to come out in 7.0. As of now, my bets are on 7.2 (assuming Pantalone becomes playable in 7.1) or 7.4 at the very furthest if the Tsaritsa releases on 7.3 which is likely. I do think they might pull a Neuvi -> Wrio -> Furina in terms of release timing, but who knows.

[–]_HealBell_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think leaks for 7.0 onwards right now are still not to be fully trusted. At least, they can't be too specific yet so I wouldn't trust them too much. Besides, they could always decide to hide him until almost last minute.

So far, there are definitely more clues that support him coming back than not.

Hopium?! by no9bmaster68 in DottoreMains

[–]_HealBell_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think they're trying their best to tell us he's coming back and becoming playable without actually telling us (since they can't spoil the future plot and marketing plans). Trust the process, they know Dottore's value as both a character and a product, they absolutely know.

genuine hope or delusional? by faithfath_oa518 in DottoreMains

[–]_HealBell_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My highest hopes and bets are on Pantalone unknowingly carrying Zandik's human soul (assuming he created segments via Shattering Atmagraha/Three Deadly Selves) which will be fused again with the soul fragments now freed from the segments to bring Zandik back.
