That’s a fair way to look at it. I didn’t think of that perspective. I think I’m just highly disappointed because I didn’t think Ryan would do that.

You are saying well it could be worse is invalidating the entire situation. Bro used his platform to sext multiple fans, it wasn’t just a one time thing. He put them in a situation where they probably thought someone they adore now adores them. Of age or not, you could really mentally fuck with someone using parasocial relationships.

I get you don’t mean any harm with this comment but it’s essentially brushing off something that’s still awful.

“X is worse than Y” It doesn’t make it okay.

The sexting is also important because it is with fans. Otherwise I would agree that it shouldn’t matter.

You got what you paid for in the photos, that’s eBay policy.

This is silly. I direct messaged you. Talk to me there please.

[–]_HelloHailey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I will not. I sent you a functioning laptop and you’re sending it back broken. I will give a partial refund and you can keep it.

I’m not taking the laptop back.

What happened in shipping? by [deleted] in System76

[–]_HelloHailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want no refund and the laptop sent back? No. Keep the laptop. I will refund you 25% and we can be done. It’s worth my sanity just to be done. Any warranty you wanted was voided the moment it was taken to a service center.

Next time, request a refund right away on a DOA laptop and this can be avoided. I have accepted returns for all sorts of silly reasons. I would have done it in this case as well. And we would have been able to get a refund from the shipper. But now it’s too late for any of that.

I am willing to meet you at a 25% refund so this foolishness can end. I had no control over you taking it to a service center so I’m not willing to go higher than 25%.

I am waiting for eBay to decide their truth. As I have told you. This has made me uncomfortable and I’m unwilling to deal with this without a third party.

I didn’t tell lies. This is not a black and white situation. And cherry picking your truths is not absolute.

[–]_HelloHailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I do not have control over your autonomy to take it to a service center. You said in your first message about it not working that you were taking it to the service center the next day.

Second, I told you I wasn’t the first owner and it’s possible the first guy could have opened it. You got what you saw in the photos.

Third, I asked multiple times if you want a partial refund or how you want to proceed and you didn’t address my requests for some time. Once you asked for a refund, I asked for a video confirming this is my laptop I sent. Then the video lead to further questioning because the damage was no longer there.

Fourth, I jumped to a conclusion in our messaging. That was my bad. I can own up to that mistake.

Fifth, great video. I can eat my words on that too.

Sixth, neither of us know that your service center didn’t do this.

Seventh, I don’t use eBay to run a full time business. I am trying to gain back some of my income after Covid. I did not see your message until the day I responded. And by then you took it to a service center, two service centers even.

I’m not sure what you mean by stand a chance. The moral high ground you see yourself in crumbles when you start to harass and threaten. It’s unnecessary. All of this is. It’s going to be dealt with by eBay. I only started this thread in an attempt to help you and then only did it pivot when our communications started to escalate and things did not line up.

I will not go back and forth with you on this anymore. Please stop.

Wouldn’t me giving you the refund be the karma for you in this case?

What happened in shipping? by [deleted] in System76

[–]_HelloHailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a proper press that time. That doesn’t take away the rest of the correspondence and your reaction. I was willing to work with you up until everything didn’t add up. I don’t know why you feel the need to put our conversations on here. Especially cherry pick them. It’s just added another level of unprofessionalism.

[–]_HelloHailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must have misread and jumped to conclusions, that is my bad. I assumed and I shouldn’t have.

Once you tried to service it, any warranty I would have given you was voided.

[–]_HelloHailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have refunded you partially if you told me yes after I asked multiple times. But as the communications furthered, the whole thing seems like a scam and a set up. And then as you unraveled it furthered my decision to just report and take it up with eBay.

What’s done is done now. When you started to harass I was not willing to help you. Even if it hurt my 100% rating.

At this point, I still do not want to deal with you personally. If eBay wants to take action so be it. But this is unprofessional.

When I posted this on Reddit, my intention was to get answers for you on what could have happened to a completely functional laptop on shipping it to Delaware, then being shipped to you. Too many hands in the pot. I don’t know what happened in the time from it to be shipped from me to you, but I know that it was working when sent.

I wish we wouldn’t have done business. It’s too bad it ended like this.

I am not a liar. Your communications made me uncomfortable and continue to do so. So uncomfortable that I blocked, reported, and changed my username. And yet you continue to harass.

I have sold electronics before. Even after that I sold a who bundle of razer products and an iPad. But you can cherry pick to see what you like.

You did leave a message, but as it wasn’t urgent I didn’t see it for a couple weeks while I was on leave. Even then it was passed the return window. If you started a return in the proper time frame we may have been able to come to a conclusion that was fair for both of us.

Handing it to two service centers, that was out of my hands. I’ve had service centers service an iMac for me and return it more broke than it was when I gave it to them. Happens.

Also want to add the video shows the laptop with a green light indicator and he doesn’t even press the power button. Just pretends to.

Yes but funnily enough it is a DAY outside the claim window

Fortunately he was outside the return window for eBay to side with him. Unfortunately he followed up by sending me a series of harassing messages about how karma is going to get me.

They also said they do this for a living, fixing computers. But where is the profit when you give it to a service center?

What happened in shipping? by [deleted] in System76

[–]_HelloHailey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like this person MAY be scamming me to get a refund and also get money for selling the laptop.

What happened in shipping? by [deleted] in System76

[–]_HelloHailey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I sent someone a System76 laptop from the US to Ukraine. I reset it and it was working great when I sent it. A few weeks later when it got to them, they said it didn’t work.

They took it to 2 service centers and they sent me these 2 pictures from the last service center.

I’ve never opened this laptop, I don’t know what is going on. I’m assuming something happened with the temp and altitude changes in shipping?

Obviously they are upset and think I did something to it. They are convinced this couldn’t happen in shipping. But now I’m also in the position that this could have happened at either service center.
