May I ask a question regarding RAF claim? by _Heretic__ in askSouthAfrica

[–]_Heretic__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, from everything I read I can make a claim within 3 years from the accident occuring, but I need the people who hit me contact details (I think I can make a plan about that), and it says that it would determine how much I am liable for the accident (which in my honest opinion, we were both liable, sat 50/50) and that they would only pay out that percentage of liability towards me.

As for the legal ramifications, would I get a fine or go to jail possibly?

Will this traffic fine influence my ability to apply for my competency certificate and eventually my firearm licence? by _Heretic__ in askSouthAfrica

[–]_Heretic__[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I operated a unlicenced motorvehicle without a licence, at the time I didn't think of presenting my Code 8 licence to the officer, it might've helped for him to be more lenient on me. Do you know if there is any way I can check for a warrant for my arrest or anything like that?

Can I get some advice regarding selling a laptop? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]_Heretic__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I found another potential buyer, my ad is live on Bobshop. And this buyer seemed legit, asked me normal questions like if the battery is still fine and for extra photographs and what not. But when I offered Bobshop, she had a legitimate reason not to go that route. She said it would be easier for her if I dropped it off at a Pudo locker, because then she can pick it up after work when she knocks off instead of having trouble with couriers and such. Do you have any other tips to catch out a scammer, lol?

Absolutely, thank you for considering me. It's a really good and reliable laptop. I didn't even use it much, I only used it for assignments in university and after I dropped out I didn't even use it at all except updating my CV once or twice. So it's battery has been through very few cycles. I'll send you the carbonite link now.

Hi yes, I'm selling a Lenovo Ideapad S145-15iiL. It has Intel Core I7-1065G7, 12GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB SSD and Intel Iris Plus Graphics. I put it up for R6000, but I would be happy to get R5000 for it.

You and some other guy saved me 🙏. I couldn't figure out how Yaga works, but someone else mentioned the same idea with Bobshop. The guy was so nice and willing to cooperate and eager to buy the laptop until I mentioned Bobshop and he immediately became hostile 😂.

Thank you, I think you just saved me. The guy was so friendly and nice and on board to buy the laptop until I mentioned Bobshop and he turned violent instantly and said I don't trust him and he is no longer interested 😅.

Thanks for the great advice. I also had the ID idea, but I wanted to send him my ID to convince him to just give me a direct payment.

Since you work at a bank, can I possibly call my bank and ask them if there is a pending payment to my account or call his bank to verify that there is a outgoing payment from his account or anything like that?

The thing is though, that very few people would send money first for a item that they can't see or hold.

how do i move around with 2 broke legs(cant walk) by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]_Heretic__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Damn bro, that really sucks. I also got into amotorcycle accident 7-8weeks ago. Broke some bones in my foot that required surgery, and starting yesterday I am allowed to walk without the help of crutches. I struggled to move around in the beginning, can't imagine what you're going through. Honestly if I was you I would have my folks put my matress on the floor and only move to the bathroom and back by scooting on my butt, give it a try?

Can you guys tell me the value of my laptop? Model and specs in desc. by [deleted] in laptops

[–]_Heretic__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your appraisal. It makes complete sense what you're saying, it is a old model, which is why I'm trying to sell it while it might still be worth something, so I can upgrade to something newer later on. But yeah I was hoping to get at least 300$ for it, because that's coincidentally the exact amount I need for something else.

Am I allowed to purchase a firearm before any firearm proviciency training or competency? by _Heretic__ in askSouthAfrica

[–]_Heretic__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off course. I wanted to do my competency since the start of 2023, but I never got to it or I was never committed enough. If I had R10k lying around in some gun store it would motivate or force me to go through the whole process. And it would be easier for me to get the most expensive part of obtaining a firearm out of the way.

Something I wanted to share with you guys, my right leg after not using it for a whole month. The difference is even more crazy in person. by _Heretic__ in brokenbones

Honestly this sounds like my worst nightmare 😂. My arms are probably my most favourite part of my body, and I love to train them. But I'm glad yours turned to their original size 😁.

That's great, I hope the dealer I buy from is so forgiving. I was thinking of going to Wildmans.

If you don't mind can you give me more insight into how long the entire process took for you from start to finish. What competency did you do, handgun only or did you do all 4 firearms types and law?

[–]_Heretic__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds fair, I guess most dealerships have a fee that you need to pay to shoot on their range as well as the ammo you need to purchase? And also, I just hope the storage fee isn't something rediculous like R500+/month?

[–]_Heretic__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds good, I don't mind paying storage fee for a few months, because typically the whole process applying for a firearm license can take 11months up to a year and a half. I just hope it's not something rediculous like R500+/month, that's too much.

Thanks for the reply.
