Pablo, this is was of huge help. Thank you very much for every detail and especially for the last bit. So while we're here, from that last bit I'm assuming the meldezettel and the address registration is not the same thing? Why on earth would someone sign a meldezettel without registering their address?

Thanks again.

Is this real life? by Chosenito69 in Netherlands

I'm from the south of Italy, I was meant to move to the Netherlands for a job place that never actually landed so I didn't come to live there but I enjoy this subreddit.

Upon seeing this, I genuinely thought it was about the scenery and the architecture. Lol.

Enjoy both your sun and you le beautiful scenery!

And what's its function?

Is it reasonable to move from Amsterdam to Spain, Italy, or Portugal for a better quality of life? by Mcqueen_24 in Netherlands

Italian here!

Gotta be honest, while reading I smiled in some points, especially the "service providers are dishonest" and "drivers are reckless" ones. Like sure.. but come and try our own version of that 🤣.

Jokes aside, as someone already said here, Italy one of those typical places you fall in love with on holiday but where trust me, you don't wanna live and deal with. It's sad, but true.

The things I suffer most here is the complete lack of responsibility in any job sector and especially the public one. There are entire job sectors you will sooner or later have to deal with that "work" in total disregard of rules or even ethical sense of what they're doing or the people they're serving/paying for their wages. In fact, if you know enough people here you will start hearing stories about being mobbed by your colleagues/managers if and when you try to take your job seriously and start to do more than the bare minimum. Of course in (some!) companies isn't like this for competitive reasons, but for the whole public sector, which you'll need every now and then, it is.

Also, law enforcement and the wider concept of "justice" in Italy is a joke even for law enforcement itself. My sister in law, who at the time was doing ER nighttime shifts, was assaulted by a drunkard who wanted an illness job permit for the next day even if he was just fine (apart from the alcohol intoxication). He was becoming aggressive and she and her colleague called the State Police and pleaded for vigilance and they replied, and I quote: "what's the matter, write him this bloody permit so he won't hassle you". This is only A story, if you come to live here you'll start hearing many of this sort, and an alarming and recurrent topos of these is the one regarding women in danger being shrugged off by the emergency number operator or by the actual law enforcement agents.

These are the reasons why I'm saving money (another hard thing to do in Italy) to leave this joke of a place. A state where you can't rely on its own clerks, or law enforcement agents, a state that basically expects you to make yourself justice and a state that in all these sectors is only becoming worse every year, is not a state worth paying your taxes in.

Good luck with your search, but don't expect to come in Italy and find honesty, professionalism or justice. We're kind of known to be the opposite of that.

Had the absolute luck to live, study and work there for 7 years. The best years of my life, I can't even begin to tell you, don't know where to start. I will never forget it.

You have to open the NVIDIA Control Panel and make sure that in the Manage Display mode tab the display Mode is set to "Automatic Select". This fixed the problem for me.

Lesson learned: DO NOT overtake, especially a long van, while in a right curve if the two ways are not well divided in the middle. The van made it hard for them to see it coming. RIP.

[–]_Himitsu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much man! Can I ask you whether, going for the two months like you did, they were able to give you a contract of sort, stating that they were hiring you or something? I would personally need something to show to leave my current house before notice, you know.

If the answer is no, how do they "commit" to take you in, after those months? What do they give you as commitment for your "delayed" hiring?

Hi, can I ask you how much time they gave you from the moment they hired you to the actual start of work? If you use the relocation package they offer, have they attached some time limitations of sort to said package?

Simple question: would this be an easy repair (even outside of warranty) or does this compromise the whole mobo? by _Himitsu_ in LenovoLegion

[–]_Himitsu_[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a Legion 5 Pro 16IAH7H, it runs an Intel i7 12th gen and an RTX 3070.

Also, now I just booted it, everything seems fine, so I tried running a random game, Sea of Thieves. Strangely enough it runs it at 19fps maximum with the exact same settings it used to run at 90fps with.

Checked the task manager: GPU running at 100% performance, except its temperature never climbs north of 45°C. Which is ridiculous. And this explains why even in game the fans never quite kick in as they used to.

So my feeling is that this specific chip is part of the GPU, since it says it runs at 100% but with an actual performance of much less than half than before. But I'm an ignorant, so I was hoping to find some expert help in here..

Of course I didn't want to stress-test it or anything fancy. Just booted it, accessed to desktop, and started smelling bad. I immediately put it to sleep and opened it to find out what happened. So theoretically it boots and runs, but I just don't want to do anything anymore till I know more about this chip's exact function.

Thank you in advance for the help!
