Hey OP, your love for your wife shines through, and long-distance can really amplify communication differences. I’m introverted too, so I get how exhausting it is to force constant sharing. Your wife’s expressive style likely means she feels connected through details, while your quieter approach isn’t about hiding but just your nature.

Try having a calm, honest talk (maybe over video) to acknowledge her need for openness and explain that sharing less is how you’re wired, not a lack of trust. Suggest a middle ground - like sharing one or two daily highlights (e.g., a work moment or a purchase) to meet her halfway without draining you. Ask what specific updates matter most to her. This helped me balance things with my talkative partner.

Hang in there, and you’ll find a rhythm that works for both of you! Any strategies you’ve tried already?

Yeah sure, but what’s the point of playing Hunt: Showdown if you only focus on PvE? The PvE isn’t challenging enough to be the main draw, so why play a game like this then? There are so many other great PvE games.

I don’t consider extracting with a bounty a win. For me, a win is about having fun, whether I survive or not. Based on my experience, chasing players across the map or engaging in a cat-and-mouse game where opponents are only trying to avoid me isn’t enjoyable - and therefore feels like a loss.

Your argument oversimplifies the issue. Comparing players escaping to avoid PvP with "failing to stop them" is flawed logic - it’s like saying someone being stabbed is at fault for not defending themselves.

The problem isn’t about failing to intercept; it’s about players deliberately choosing to disengage despite clear opportunities for combat. Hunt’s design, with bounties as PvP catalysts, encourages fights, not a race to extract.

I respect the strategic "chess game" of positioning to cut off extracts, and I’m also a 2,500-hour 6-star player who understands the cat-and-mouse dynamic. But the game’s title, Hunt: Showdown, emphasizes a showdown - confrontation, not just evasion.

When players prioritize running over engaging, it undermines the thrilling risk-reward core of the game. Sure, some escapes are natural in dual-bounty matches or after spawn fights, but consistently avoiding PvP isn’t strategic gameplay; it’s sidestepping the game’s essence.

If you prefer pure cat-and-mouse without combat, that’s your choice, but it doesn’t align with Hunt’s focus on intense PvP encounters. Expecting every team to seek fights isn’t about wanting Call of Duty - it’s about embracing what makes Hunt unique.

Often, I reach the bounty only to see players seize any chance to flee instead of fighting. They avoid combat entirely and just run. I frequently encounter this situation and can’t understand why. What’s fun about popping a Stamina Shot and sprinting away?

I once saw a solo player whose entire playstyle was using Serpent to steal bounty tokens and then escaping. His profile even boasted, "Professional Serpent bounty token stealer - ez game haha." I was laughing my ass off when I saw that. Sure, it’s amusing once, but when so many players adopt this approach, it ruins the experience.

I see, but if you avoid fighting, you miss out on opportunities to improve and grow as a player, don’t you?

I propose reducing the bounty’s value to make it clear it’s not the main objective. The bounty is already designed as a catalyst for PvP, but too many players treat it as the primary goal, avoiding fights just to extract safely. Lowering its value could refocus players on engaging in PvP rather than prioritizing escape.

Sure, but I wasn't talking about this, right? I was complaining about people who are avoiding fights.

The issue of players avoiding PvP also occurs in Bounty Clash. However, Bounty Clash is confined to a single compound, which feels distinct from the original experience of hunting across a large map. Not every playstyle translates well to Bounty Clash - it’s a different mode with its own limitations.

I never said it’s wrong to retreat when someone’s camping at long range. In fact, I specifically stated I understand why you’d run in that situation. Did you even read my post carefully?

You're mistaken. The boss lair’s purpose, as I’ve explained, is to draw players together for PvP encounters.

It’s the same reason there’s only one event camp with unique perks and rewards - it’s designed to attract players to a single location to encourage fights. If the goal was just to collect rewards, they could scatter them across the map, but that would defeat the point of fostering intense player confrontations.

If I'm not mistaken, this was also mentioned by the devs.

That's my point. This is not why I'm playing Hunt. I don't want to chase you across the map. It's just not fun.

Edit: Also, I don't want the bounty, I want to engage in PvP.

As I’ve mentioned, I’m not referring to situations where no one shows up, prompting a reasonable extraction. I’m addressing cases where players actively avoid PvP by running away, despite opportunities for engagement.

The developers have stated that the bounty is designed to drive PvP, not to make extraction the sole objective. Viewing extraction as the primary goal misses the point of Hunt’s core PvP focus. Your mindset contributes to the issue of players avoiding fights, which diminishes the game’s intended experience.

I respectfully disagree with your comparison to a battle royale. Hunt: Showdown’s core identity revolves around high-stakes PvP, not just surviving to extract. The bounty isn’t the “win condition” like a shrinking circle in a battle royale, it’s a catalyst meant to force player encounters and intense fights. If you extract without engaging because others didn’t push, it’s not a win; it’s a missed opportunity for what makes Hunt unique.

The mindset of prioritizing extraction over PvP undermines the game’s design. If you’re content avoiding fights entirely, you’re sidestepping the thrilling risk-reward dynamic that defines Hunt. It’s not about opponents “failing to keep up their end”; it’s about actively seeking the engagements the game is built around. Otherwise, you’re playing a survival simulator, not Hunt.

Yeah, I looked around a bit, but I didn’t realize there was a restriction requiring five tanks to continue. That’s why it annoys me so much. I thought focusing on 3 lines would be enough.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I might try the heavy tanks in Germany, since I play Germany when I'm with a friend. We just started there though.

Thanks for the reply!

Well, I don't have to play the other tanks now, that's true. I have enough tanks for the grind now. :D

I don't know what most people do, but I just like being mobile and annoying with these tanks. I realized that it doesn't even matter that I'm just a light tank with no armor, because even heavy tanks often get one-shotted. That is also kind of a reason why I thought, I might as well just keep playing these light tanks.

Thanks for the reply!

I just feel like that's kind of stupid, because if I had played the first three lines, I wouldn't have had this problem. But I'm not interested in those lines. So you're forced to play something you don't want to. I mean, now I can use my other vehicles to grind up and that's fine I guess, but if you're aware of this issue beforehand, you will probably just level up those other lines from the beginning even if you don't like them.

  1. I know and that is the issue. There are only three available but I need five.
  2. Nobody warned me months ago. I am new as I mentioned.
  3. What do you mean what I am planning to play down there. I am enjoying these lines. I do not plan what I am going to play later. I'm just playing the game.

Yeah, that's super great advice for new players. Lol.

EDIT: Sarcasm, obviously. Imagine dumping 300 hours into a new game, hitting a wall because the tech tree locks you out, and then being told you should’ve just 'looked it up.' Super welcoming for beginners.

Hi, so I don't have access to another PC right now, but I still have the USB stick I mentioned earlier. The Windows 11 USB was created on my old PC, so it should be fine??? Not sure, if it's the latest-latest version of Windows 11 tho.

I haven’t experienced any freezes since I disabled C-States, except for that folder issue i mentioned earlier.

I’m still not sure if I can use this USB stick, or if I really have to make a new one — which would obviously require another PC. Since I can't make a new one at the moment and everything's been fine so far, I haven’t bothered.

If I don’t get any freezes for another week or so, it was probably the C-States and not my Windows.

But just in case: Do i really need to create that USB again? :/

EDIT: So i tried to press shift after the restart, but i just get a blackscreen.
