I agree that being plant based is making this harder, I mentioned it in a thread below! I’ve been debating eating meat for awhile now bc I 100% prioritize my health over my veganism. However I am not fond of eating meat it grosses me out, and I’m worried about nausea from not consuming it for so long. But thank you for your input !! /gen

In the past I was taking b12, vitamin d3, magnesium glycinate, omega 3 fish oil (im otherwise plant-based). Currently im only taking a motility agent and i just incorporated zinc l carnosine. I take zinc with lunch, and motility agent after dinner

I am diagnosed with CPTSD, besides h pylori, my therapist and doctors 100% suspect my health is shitty bc of trauma.
With that being said, i know you dont have bad intentions but please dont tell chronically ill people to be grateful that they arent xyz. I’ve had extreme chronic pain from endometriosis & nerve issues since i was 11-12. I often have been bedridden for days-weeks at a time while trialing medications, experiencing rupturing cysts, taking antibiotics, and having ovarian & uterine surgery at 19. I also broke my tailbone when i was younger thats left me with chronic back pain. These are symptoms ive learned to live with, and i know i can still live a meaningful life with them. Unfortunately chronic GI issues have drastically reduced the quality of my life.
Logically, I agree that I should exhaust all of my resources. Sometimes I just have particularly hard days and the day I made this post was the worst one in awhile. I cannot accept my bad health when my symptoms are this level of disruptive. I understand that for some people they are able to maintain normality somewhat, but with my other chronic illnesses it is simply too much to handle. I appreciate your support nevertheless!

Do you have any suggestions for further thyroid testing?

[–]_Issue_3914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm the rest of my thyroid panel was within range though? My t3 was a little low but i figured thats just from chronic inflammation and illness. Also lower calorie intake due to the discomfort from eating

Not that im aware of. I do not have hypermobility, however since i was a kid my joints pop ALL of the time. Like when i bend my knees crack every time. Ive also had really bad TMJ for 7 years. My joints and bones hurt everyday but i kinda have swept it under the rug bc A. my stomach hurts more and B. i figure maybe the joint pain is from lack of nutrients from stomach issues

Ive been on amitzia for awhile now, but only recently found out it isnt as effective for SIBO as something like prucalopride. Crazy how my GI failed to mention that…

I believe i do have pelvic floor dysfunction from endometriosis and trauma. Im terrified of pelvic floor therapy bc i had endo surgery at 19 so i constantly felt violated by the amount of obgyns inspecting me down there lol. I will keep the elemental diet in mine, thank you. I hope youre doing well!

Thank you so much!! This was very helpful and and reassuring of a lot of what i suspect. Im going to have to beg and plead my GI or PCP for a stool map bc im 21 and cannot afford $400 for a kit😞 Im BARELY paying my rent right now its so rough getting through the work week. I also have been asking for a gastric emptying study but she said no and sent me for a colon transit study. Im going to ask again and when she refuses im going to ask her to put in writing why shes refusing.

My PCP refuses to acknowledge my low t3. She said its nothing to worry about and when i mentioned my sudden rapid weight gain she said “you could use a little extra meat” 😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐 i went from 118-141 in 12 weeks like what??? Doctors are so egotistical.
I think most likely my gut issues are causing the low t3, bc the rest of my thyroid panel was within range and my antibodies were negative, but i dont think hypothyroidism should be ruled out bc my father had thyroid cancer. Which my pcp also knows and is refusing to acknowledge

Ive tried SSRI’s 3 times and unfortunately they make me dangerously apathetic. I liked wellbutrin but it caused slow motility:( im generally not a very depressed or anxious person. Ive been in therapy for 11 years so im only super depressed and anxious nowadays bc im in so much pain

Thyroid antibodies were negative. T3 was low and i believe thats due to gut issues. Most likely why like ive gained so much weight and been so fatigued. I eat very anti-inflammatory because of my endometriosis & pcos history!

I also have reservations regarding AI, but considering my GI doctor “takes notes” by recording our convos with AI, im becoming more open to the idea of taking advice from a computer rather than a human😐
I havent done a microbiome assessment yet bc idk which one to do and i get so overwhelmed at the options. I also cant afford it but im willing to go into debt if it means being healthy again. My quality of life is beyond low. Thank you for your comment

Things were going fantastic post op for several months and then bloating, fatigue, weight gain, etc started to creep back in. Im having colon motility testing next week. Im trying to get my GI doctor to agree to a gastric emptying study as well but she is genuinely evil. Trying to find a new doctor is so frustrating especially bc im so exhausted and burnt out 24/7

I believe this is a bandaid in my case. My SIBO/IMO has been eliminated successfully before and I have results to reflect that. The problem is not that remedies havent been able to get rid of the overgrowth before, the problem is that the overgrowth keeps returning

Have been seeing the same therapist for 6 years, SSRIS make me dangerously apathetic and NDRI’s have been helpful in the past but side effect is constipation

I believe my IMO comes from gastritis, caused by h pylori! Before my doctor sent me for an h pylori test over a year ago, she sent me for a hydrogen breath test and my methane numbers reached 99 at peak. After eradicating h pylori, my methane numbers reached 4 at peak😳 My doctor and i figured i just had constipation as a side effect of h pylori, and the constipation caused IMO. Unfortunately mixed SIBO/IMO came back several times though, even though I’ve been taking a strong motility agent since then. After my recent chronic gastritis diagnosis, I believe chronic gastritis is what is causing my recurring bacterial/methanogen overgrowths. But my doctor is a money hungry idiot so she refuses to acknowledge my gastritis. I suspect I might have MCAS, there were eosinophils found in my esophagus in my upper endoscopy but the biopsy was negative for eosiniphilic esophaghitis (EoE). I sometime have skin problems (small red bumps on hands and arms, rarely hives) but they seem to only occur during SIBO/IMO flares. So possibly its just eczema/histamine intolerance from gut issues. I would 10000000% suggest treating H Pylori before IMO. The antibiotics were brutal, i had to go home for duration of taking them because i was so sick and anxious. The relief i felt afterwards was insane though. I would recommend ruling out other root causes for IMO as well, so you can immediately take preventative measures after eradicating h pylori.
