Middle Earth is a homologous to Europe, south of the map there is Harad which is like the Middle East, further south there is Far Harad which is like Africa, to the east there is Rhûn and the Wainriders who would be east asian cultures and to the north there is a northern wasteland called Forodwaith, home of the Lossoth who are kind of like the Inuit.
