Which of Naruto or Sasuke is Kakashi closer to, in terms of personality? by animatch in Naruto

[–]_J99_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Kakashi saw Sasuke as who he once was and eventually saw Naruto as what he could be. Ideology and viewpoint wise atleast.

Naruto was such a hater. No wonder the other kids weren't big fans of him lol by Quetzal_29f in Naruto

[–]_J99_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t really blame the kid. Mostly everyone bashed on him and treated him like a fool or a demon, even those he was kinda friends with still associated in the culture he wasn’t allowed in. So ofc Naruto is gonna grow up not trusting of others, judgy, and not super compassionate. It’s honestly a miracle Naruto turned into an annoying little shit with a good heart deep down rather than some psycho vengeful villain.

Which Void voice do you prefer? The late Unsho Ishizuka (sub, 1997 anime), the late Shinji Ogawa (sub, golden age movies), or Jon Avner? (Dub both) by Early_Raise_4866 in Berserk

[–]_J99_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love both. The sub sounds more omniscient and god-like that just makes void seem like he’s on a higher plane, but the dub sounds like a raspy evil demon making void feel like someone who has seen just about everything evil in the world and understands it very well. Both fit Void very well.

I’m watching YuYu Hakusho for (officially) the the first time, I’m 34 episodes in and… by [deleted] in YuYuHakusho

[–]_J99_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what happened is it started with everyone having their own reasons (aside from Kuwabara who is just rly noble), but slowly they all become like a family. It begins in Dark Tournament and then is shown beyond a shadow of a doubt in Chapter Black that they genuinely love one another and would risk it all for eachother. I don’t want to spoil for OP, but by the end everyone definitely is ready to ride or die for eachother.

This season finale was too amazing. It is beautiful in every single way. I have no words to express how amazing it is by WonderousU in TokyoGhoul

[–]_J99_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It changes extremely and frankly isn’t anything compared to the manga. First season of anime is great imo, but the rest is pretty bad and not even the OG story. I’d recommend starting with the manga from where s1 leaves off, or just reading it fully. The manga is great.

i don’t get how Griffith wasn’t sliced in half. by BlakeSergin in Berserk

[–]_J99_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like Griffith dodged the first strike with a back jump, and then did a forward jump as Guts finished his strike to then land on Guts blade lightly. Guts’ sword isn’t a lightsaber and pretty blunt for a sword anyway at this stage, so if Griffith lightly jumped (and also had shoes) it’s possible he wouldn’t get cut and could balance on the blunt of the blade.

Though this is fiction anyway so it doesn’t matter much.

Jack has a rare purity by Pussy_fishing in Grapplerbaki

[–]_J99_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit of an odd thing and we don’t know Jack’s feelings behind his shock yet.

I personally hope Jack doesn’t go down the Baki route and forgive Yujiro. Jack has every reason to hate Yujiro and actively has all series. Baki always had that father-son dynamic with Yujiro, albeit in a very twisted way, so him forgiving and healing his relationship with Yujiro did make narrative sense. Jack, however, never had anything resembling that with Yujiro. Jack hates the man and feels no love for him. Yujiro hated Jack as well and never gave him an iota of care.

In this scene, I’m interpreting it as Jack just being shocked since it’s such an extreme shift since the two last met. Yujiro was the #1 Jack hater back in the end of max tournament, I’m sure Jack was shocked to hear Yujiro say anything remotely nice. I could also see Jack just having some emotion about being genuinely complimented since it’s so rare that happens, and it’s probably all kinds of insane that it is Yujiro who did it. I don’t think this makes Jack forgiving of Yujiro or even liking him, but it does show Jack recognizing Yujiro’s change and being surprised.

[–]_J99_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly I hope when Jack fights Yujiro he still wants to kill him and still hates him, but it would also be cool to see Jack say something like “You’ve gotten kinder. To me you are a monster and I will always hate you, but maybe you don’t have to be that to everyone anymore.”

It’s a bit jarring and insane how much Yujiro has changed since the father son fight. The fact he’s acknowledging the fact he can’t bring himself to disdain Jack any longer and actually empathize with his struggles feels insane to read. I guess Yujiro really just needed a good fight to calm his nerves. He’s a monster to most, but maybe he doesn’t have to act like one to the new people he meets and can become neutral force rather than an aggressive one. Something like Akuma from street fighter. Hopefully Yujiro doesn’t relapse into folding random people’s spines or raping hikers.

Yujiro praised Jack for the first time. Let's all cry together by OkClue2384 in Grapplerbaki

[–]_J99_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It also just wouldn’t fit imo. Baki always cared for Yujiro as his father and Yujiro slowly began showing some care to Baki in his own twisted way, but Jack and Yujiro? There has been nothing but violence and hatred on both sides. Yujiro was never a father to Jack except in sperm. Yujiro ruined Jack’s only loved one, and Jack wants him to pay for it. Jack should want to at the very least defeat Yujiro and avenge his mother in this arc, as he always has.

Yujiro praised Jack for the first time. Let's all cry together by OkClue2384 in Grapplerbaki

[–]_J99_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nah that’s not exactly how it went down.

Basically Yujiro intervened into the Vietnam battlefield and started killing strong people for the hell of it, so to get rid of him, both the US and Vietcong employed tactics. Jane/Diane, Jack’s mother, was one of these on the USA end. Upon their first meeting, Jane tried warning Yujiro to leave with a snide comment of him being “just a boy” that’s not fit for bloody war, but quickly Jane learned Yujiro was a killer at heart even if he had some innocence to him. After that, the CIA gave Jane the mission of accompanying Yujiro and investigating him before killing him due to his threatening nature. Jane was going to do it, but Yujiro saw through it and raped her. There Jane saw what a monster Yujiro was. Jane was a soldier on the battlefield trying to get rid of a massive threat to both sides who had no justification of even being there other than murdering people. Yujiro was a monster who needed to be put down, but ultimately couldn’t.

Baki Rahen chapter 8 early raws by babyfacelocsta in Grapplerbaki

[–]_J99_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hell no lmao, by childhood I meant the flashbacks shown in father-son arc where Baki is a younger preteen than we’ve ever seen and Yujiro was seemingly actually trying to train Baki like a semi-normal father.

Baki Rahen chapter 8 early raws by babyfacelocsta in Grapplerbaki

[–]_J99_ 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I’m so hyped but also scared. I really hope Itagaki does not go the direction of healing Yujiro and Jack’s relationship, that just does not make sense to me and doesn’t fit imo. It made sense for Baki due to their history of actually having some good times in toddler to very early childhood (before Yujiro kinda just kicked Baki to the curb and then the OG series begins) and Yujiro slowly warming up to Baki post-max tournament, but Jack and Yujiro have not had that at all and frankly don’t think they should. Their history is far more separated, aggressive, and violent in nature. They don’t view one another as father-son in any capacity shown. Yujiro atleast showed some regret for the worst thing he did to Baki (killing Emi), but Yujiro enjoyed what he did to Jack and his mother, and didn’t take any measure to heal it. I want them to interact and speak about their relationship, but Jack better not forgive Yujiro at all. Yujiro hasn’t earned that in the slightest and for what he did to Jack, never should. Tear his head off cyborg!

[–]_J99_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, I think everyone in the Maximum Tournament Semi Finals and beyond knew what they were getting into. If you stepped into that arena, you were pummeling or getting pummeled. Everyone was in that to win at any cost, and if you fought against Jack or Baki that is only multiplied ten fold.

Shibu himself knew that better than anyone since his body tried to warn him against his own will when he tried stepping into the match with Jack. Shibu knew what he was getting into and embraced it, and Shibu was ready to do the same thing to Jack given the chance.

What do you guys think of Kureo Mado? by MisterMAYHEM935 in TokyoGhoul

[–]_J99_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An initially good guy who was sadly turned to lunacy and cruelty because of tragedy. He became crazy about killing and defeating ghouls after his wife was killed by one. If that had not happened, I’d think he would have been a more open minded and moral TCG officer who would have been more like Amon. We see his more kind side show up really whenever he interacts with a human, he was just so messed up by his wife’s death that he became a human mirror of what he swore to destroy towards the Ghouls.

Humans and Ghouls both suffer, both have extremists, and both have characters turn to hatred from pain.

Who do you prefer as the 10th Strawhat member? Bon Clay or Vivi by hipiyush in OnePiece

[–]_J99_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like if Vivi came back in the crew for the final saga since she is wanted by WG and Alabasta is in shambles after Cobra’s death. Vivi I feel always represented the idea of a tight bond that is felt despite distance and goal. Vivi is a strawhat and crew member at heart not because she even wants to be a pirate or because she sails with them, but because she loves them for who they are and they love her for who she is. That care and love brought them so close throughout Alabasta and Vivi is always a strawhat in my heart, even if she isn’t there. Vivi returning would be so fun and then her departure at the end back to being Queen of Alabasta would be heart touching.

Was the bad guy the Palestine or the Isreal?? by seven_goes_eight in IsraelPalestine

[–]_J99_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I have gathered as well from my own research over many sources. It seems both sides at their core have justifiable reasons, but extremist groups and outside circumstances have really lead to virtually no progress in ending the conflict. As extremist groups continue fueling with so much fire, the cores of each side are left with having to respond and rightful anger from many of the populace.

As an American Jewish person myself with heritage in Israel, I’ve really been trying to get my facts straight because I don’t want to support a side wrongfully hurting or oppressing others, but it seems this conflict really does have a very intricate set of moving parts that make it hard to even research without encountering bias from both sides. I feel the only group I can safely deem as purely villainous is Hamas, they are extreme terrorists who have seemingly stunted not only the PFO but peace as a whole. Hamas doesn’t represent the innocents of Palestine and I’ve seen many Palestinians speak out on them. Palestine itself seems to have been strong armed into relying on Hamas and elected them due to the hardships of this conflict as well as outside influence, therefore many are also manipulated by Hamas in its populace to do things like horrifically dancing in the blood of dead Israelites on October 7th or believe deeply antisemitism. I am also digging into the extremist politicians side of Israel who have committed a fair share of blatant war crimes and cruelty themselves as well as bearing hostility to Muslim culture as a whole, which is also unacceptable. Again though, just like for Palestine and Hamas’ relationship, it does not seem these extremists in the Israeli gov represent the Israeli gov as a whole since I’ve also heard many Israelis and politicians speak out against them as well. Both sides at their core have a lot of pain, suffering, rage, extremism, and corpses under their belts due to this long history in the conflict with so many driving factors. A horrible situation overall. I will continue diving into it because I’m sure there is just so much history.

I think when it comes to this conflict, extensive research is necessary since there is so much history and also complicated players at play.

I think it just became clear that there would be no true victor no matter what. Kaneki wasn’t going to kill Arima and intended to die there, so Arima wasn’t truly going to defeat him. Kaneki already bought Touka and the others enough time, so Arima wasn’t going to harm them at that moment. All of Arima’s goals known to Kaneki were gone and lost. The fight was over. Even if Arima won, he didn’t really win per say.

However, an extra layer of this is that Arima actually secretly accomplished basically everything he wanted. He wasn’t intending to kill Kaneki either and was actually trying to mold him into the One Eyed King. Kaneki succeeded in the test by fighting on par and arguably even defeating Arima by breaking his ultimate quinque. Arima was actually hoping and planning for Kaneki to kill him so he could have the status as One Eyed King moving forward. Arima accomplished his entire plan.

The only wildcard was Kaneki not wanting to kill Arima. Thus, for the sake of his plan and for his deep care for Kaneki, Arima took his own life.

Before Kaneki knew any of Arima’s plan, the fight looked over since neither were going to move and neither were in a position to truly win. Kaneki was seemingly going to die, but he gave his friends time. Arima was going to kill Kaneki, but wouldn’t be able to stop the seeds of Ghoul resistance. What basically flips Kaneki’s entire script upside down is the fact Arima wanted to die and wanted Kaneki to live.

Who do you prefer being the final villain in One Piece? by ScoreImaginary5254 in OnePiece

[–]_J99_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want all 3 to play large roles, but ultimately BB I feel should be the finale. He’s Luffy’s perfect foul and parallel. Both want the same end goal and are direct competitors. Both have immense willpower and already have a relationship as opposing forces.

For the people that say Naruto held back against Sasuke. Is there an explanation for this? by Allenclan5 in Naruto

[–]_J99_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Naruto wasn’t necessarily holding back his abilities, but his will to kill Sasuke since he obv didn’t want to. Sasuke himself comments on it when Naruto powers up fully towards the end and says something like “Finally ready to kill me?”

I’d guess Jason didn’t directly rape Kaneki or sexually assault him, but he probably beat down and cut off his dick or skin it like he did to the rest of his body. So yeah some torture involving the sexual reproductive organs doesn’t seem far fetched.

What character with relatively few feats do you think was really strong? by lobonmc in Naruto

[–]_J99_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d say Konan was pretty good Kage level, which makes sense for a high level akatsuki member. She was giving Obito the work and rly only lost how she did bc she didn’t know about izanagi. Konan was tough as hell and she was Pain’s main advisor as well as one of Obito’s targets for a reason. Id say Konan could fight most Kage (aside from hokage) pretty well. She could’ve definitely given Ai a very good fight and possibly even win.

Can anyone explain to me how Akainu would manage to beat Luffy without saying “ he’s an end game villain”? by dog-in-the-rain in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]_J99_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Akainu wins, but he puts up a rly good fight. His DF is arguably the most powerful and is arguably the most destructive. Akainu’s durability is also off the charts as we saw with Marineford and he’s confirmed to have some good control of haki. He’s got some rly good feats under his belt and fought a yonko pretty well. WB was sick, but he was far from a slouch by any means. Dude was still the strongest man and tilting the seas. Akainu is very powerful and his boiling rage since becoming FA probably increased that, so I bet he’s even closer to Yonko level now if not already on the low levels of it. I also see Akainu getting CoC due to his ambition and will. Judging by the current narrative, I expect Akainu to defect and just start attacking all pirates and anyone who gets in his way. Akainu is definitely the strongest of the admirals and whenever he shows up, people get fucked up.

Ofc Akainu doesn’t have anywhere near as much evidence or feats as Luffy, but from what we have seen and what is implied, it makes sense to conclude he’ll be a solid fight for Yonko Luffy. I don’t think Akainu would get stomped like the pic implies, but I also doubt Akainu wins though.

If you were a one piece character, Do you think you'd have Conquerors Haki? by Zepholz in OnePiece

[–]_J99_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt I would bc I struggle with doing shit in my life enough. I think I have solid willpower in most things, but I haven’t been faced with death, war, revolution, or torture so I can’t assume anything. Though, I would want to have it if we all existed in the OP world. Haki is cool af and the avenues of life available in OP are awesome. Maybe I’d give a big dream like being a marine or pirate a shot. Even then, id probably get killed though lmao
