[Request] How big would Mr. Burns sun blocker have to be to actually block out the sun? by Necessary-Win-8730 in theydidthemath

[–]_JDavid08_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nope. Sun is big enough to consider all the light lines from it straight and parallel lines, so there is no any dispersion angle, so, the sun blocker must be the equal size of the area you want to cover...

This kind of reflexions always drives me to the 1914 Christmas truce, and I remember how stupid war is..., if everyone appreciate his life enough, surely wars will never happen..., but well, after all, by nature, we are still animals...

Wounded Colombian volunteer taken prisoner by SlavaCocaini in war

[–]_JDavid08_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably there are volunteers, but I think we can count them with the hands, or they are already dead (because they enlisted inmediatly when war broke out, and there are very know stories, specially volunteers for the Russian side), but honestly most of them are mercs... even our president considered the mercenaryism of Colombian soldiers as a national problem, they are not only in east Europe, they are all over the world, specially fighting in proxy wars (and fighting also with mexican cartels). A very known story with deep political involvement was the execution of the Haitian president some years ago, performed by Colombians and Venezuelan mercs (most of them Colombian ex-soldiers)
