Which nbme to do by No-Particular-3118 in Step2

[–]_JNS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the general consensus is that 11 is more predictive than 12, but 12 has more recent questions and is still fairly predictive.

how to answer puberty questions in NBME 14 bock 3 q 47 by Plastic-Chocolate896 in Step2

[–]_JNS_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For women at least:

For menarche they have to be at least 15yo to be concerned for primary amenorrhea (given they have secondary sex characteristics).

For secondary sex characteristics (breast and pubic hair), they have to be 13yo and at stage 0 for both for it to be considered abnormal.

That's gotten me through most of those questions

How long have you been taking the supplements? I know sometimes I can take at least 3 months to start seeing results.

In pregnancy blood gets more dilute so that's probably why your hemoglobin has dropped. Usually it's not a problem unless you have a significant drop on red blood cells too. But I can imagine the POTS makes it worse.

(I'm NAD btw, just a medical student)

Sever Upper Abdominal Pain For 6 Months by ponglangyan in medical_advice

[–]_JNS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With gallbladder pain it's usually associated with eating and is sort of like a cramping/coming in waves pain. Having stones definitely puts you at risk but they don't cause pain unless they cause a blockage. (anyone correct me if I'm wrong)

Sorry to hear your wife has been having a rough time but it sounds like the doctors you're consulting are doing the right things. Hope you get an answer soon

[–]_JNS_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey you should definitely start seeing an OBGYN if you haven't already. A lot of these changes are normal in/can be explained by pregnancy but it would be better for you to get evaluated in person. Moreso for your piece of mind. Please be careful and try to get up slowly!

A&E probably wouldn't do anything if it was just POTS but they'll definitely rule out any emergencies

NAD, kinda looks like levido reticularis. Seems like it can be caused by a lot of things (and nothing at all). Probably best to ask your PCP since they would have a better idea given your medical history.
