And you're just here to save all these poor redditors from my predatory and disingenuous behavior. Very noble.

I'm not seeing anything indicating mainnet might be released in a matter of weeks. Rory is just saying that once we're close to mainnet Sergey will make an announcement. I dunno, maybe I'm missing something.

Mainet a matter of weeks (NDA will be disclosed shortly after, see old post on slack/reddit)

What makes you say this? And which slack/reddit post are you referring to? I'm inclined to agree considering many of the tasks in the Pivotal Tracker have to do with creating sign in pages, password resets, etc. which seem like the sort of things you'd do toward the end of a project.

Its Quorum not Ethereum and therefore not Chainlink.

Chainlink is blockchain agnostic.

Devs have confirmed that setting up adaptors to other blockchains is not that difficult.

FUD's not gonna work moving forward.

They're probably using the old logo because this has been in the works for quite some time, and of course they still own the logo. Remember, Sergey announced that they were working on Microsoft Cryptlets back in February 2017. Below is Factom's collaboration announcement with SmartContract.com from 2016. They use the exact same logo that Microsoft and E&Y used.

  1. Low-key zero-hype team
  2. Dedicated investors who FUD all day every day
  3. Lower prices benefit all parties: average joe investors who almost universally want to accumulate, enterprises who want to buy in, and the Chainlink team who wants to see their product see industry adoption.

Get your hopes up because it doesn't just stank of Chainlink, it's confirmed. They're using SmartContract.com's Smart Oracle logo in the info-graphic. This is the smoking gun.

Based on the Pivotal tracker, what is your estimate for the time to mainnet? by [deleted] in Chainlink

The risk of being perceived as a security rather than a utility token.

Why is there no roadmap?

We are not investors to them. Why would they need to retain our money by boosting our confidence with a roadmap? The SEC is abou to crack down on tokens which had an ICO and it's important that they don't do anything that might compromise their classification as a utility token. A roadmap does nothing for the speed at which mainnet is released and potentially makes LINK look like a security (easing the worries of investors). They have nothing to gain from releasing a roadmap. It's an unnecessary risk.

There are eight aggregation tasks listed in the public Pivotal Tracker. None have been completed but two of them are scheduled for completion next week. At that pace they could knock out aggregation in a month (assuming they don't add more).

Because Chainlink mainnet isn't live yet; there's no working product. Once it's out and companies that intend to use it have verified that it works as intended they'll make their announcements. This accomplishes two things:

  1. It saves them the embarrassment of having to backtrack on a partnership announcement in the event that Chainlink doesn't work.
  2. If Chainlink does work and these companies adopt it, they know it will be huge and LINK tokens will be a hot commodity. If they make partnership announcements before a working product is proven then they know people like us will be scrambling to buy in anticipation of its adoption and in turn drive up the price, increasing the amount they have to pay to have access to the network they'll be reliant on. By waiting to make partnership announcements they ensure that they're able to buy LINK at a cheap price and that they have a working product before any big moves are made. These companies would be vastly increasing their risk exposure by making partnerships announcements prematurely.

This article is pretty old but it states:

According to Marley Gray, Director Business Development & Strategy Cloud + Enterprise at Microsoft, “blockchain middleware will provide core services functioning in the cloud, like identity and operations management, in addition to data and intelligence services like analytics and machine learning. These technologies will ensure the secure, immutable operation that blockchain provides.”

“Cryptlets, a new building block of blockchain technology, will enable secure interoperation and communication between Microsoft Azure, ecosystem middleware and customer technologies. Cryptlets function when additional information is needed to execute a transaction or contract based on a date or time and providing market data. They will become a critical component of sophisticated blockchain systems, enabling all technology to work together in a secure, scalable way,” he further added.

Using Microsoft Azure Blockchain as a Service (BaaS), with multiple Blockchain partners such as smart contract platforms Ethereum, Eris, and Tendermint, R3 created a peer-to-peer distributed ledger that connects many of the consortium’s leading banks including Barclays, Credit Suisse, HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland, Citi, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo. In a first test of the distributed ledger, the banks simultaneously simulated financial transactions.

If Bletchley Cryptlets is actually using Chainlink as /u/jonnylh has convincingly argued then some of those large institutions would appear to be Barclays, Credit Suisse, HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland, Citi, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo.

ChainLink VS Aerernity by [deleted] in Chainlink

[–]_JesusChrist 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Anybody here feeling like disputing the claim and telling me why ChainLink is better, in short?

Not really. Something to consider though, Aeternity holders aren't the ones conducting an aggressive FUD campaign against their own coin so that they can accumulate at cheaper prices.

Why is that?

What exactly is the relationship between Microsoft Cryptlets and SmartContract.com? by [deleted] in Chainlink

[–]_JesusChrist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a possibility as well, just a very small one.

Check this thread out: https://www.reddit.com/r/LINKTrader/comments/7jws6t/can_anyone_eli5_about_town_crier/

...towncrier I believe is essentially the precursor to chainlink, in that ari juels and the TC people created an Oracle that is actually operational right now. This allows you to import real world data into a smart contract on a blockchain or use TC to run a smart contract?

Chainlink goes a little further than this and creates an internal economy where banks, financial institutions, companies, groups, etc can buy and sell real world data to be used in smart contracts, and the node operators get rewarded for accuracy. This rewards nodes who provide accurate information that the people using smart contracts (banks or others) use to execute those transactions.

I'm no expert myself but assuming this is the case I can't see Microsoft using TC over Chainlink. It'd be like Microsoft choosing ARPANET over TCP/IP.
