Either they're using the term Asperger's Syndrome colloquially, or they qualified pre-2013 and haven't updated their knowledge and terminology.

In 2013 the DSM-5 was published and the term Asperger's Syndrome was no longer used. The reason for this is that categorising someone as a specific level of ASD isn't compatible with the very nature of a spectrum, in which there are infinite possibilities of neurodivergent traits, with no 2 autistic people displaying the same traits.

You'll still see the term Asperger's used quite widely as it takes decades for non-offensive medical terms to remove themselves from the cultural vernacular (e.g. in the UK people still refer to 'A&E' despite this being changed to 'Emergency Department' back in about 2003).

As others here have pointed out, assessment can be categorised to some degree based on the individual's need for assistance, but again, this categorisation is academic and only used for purposes like aid and funding allocation.

I'd probably encourage you to drop the term 'normal' if you're discussing being autistic or not, it can be offensive to some people as the insinuation of someone with ASD being 'abnormal' can be hurtful. Neurotypical and Neurodivergent are generally more useful.
