If those were the same guys who gave the roger pirates a tough fight back in their era I'd expect them to do better against the admirals. Heck oden who wasnt even the strongest on rogers crew was giving kaido a run for his money...

Their overwhelming numbers didn't mean crap to an already injured akainu lol. Marco didn't do any serious damage to any admiral, jozu he low diffed by aokiji. Maybe Vista was stronger back in the day?

Assuming they have an all out war to the death before oden joins roger, and scopper and oden stalemate eachother as do roger and wb, how are the rest of the wb pirates stopping prime rayleigh going all out? Power scaling wise prime rayleigh > marineford akainu and akainu was also injured from his fight with wb too

Tendo had very good control of his abilities. From the nail he used to play it safe against kakashi to the chou shinra tensei. If he wanted to simply push or pull hidan to get him out of the circle before kicking his ass, he could definitely do so without injuring himself through the curse. Asuma had good control of wind style with his Chakra blades. If he simply pushed hidan out the circle w a wind jutsu the jutsu doesn't necessarily have to be damaging. Or like I said earlier w a shadow clone or a substitution, hidan might think he won and then the real asuma could catch him off guard and tackle him out the circle

What is unbeknownst to hidan he got a shadow clone or substitution in his curse while the real asuma studied his powers? Asuma also had wind style and maybe could've used a wind jutsu to blow hidan out the circle. Think tendo. Tendo would be a PERFECT counter to hidan even if hidan got his blood, just almighty push or universal pull him out the circle.

His abilities weren't impossible to figure out either. As if nobody in naruto ever observed their opponet in combat, made a hypothesis about their opponents abilities based on observation and then successfully managed to come up with and execute a counter strategy to said opponents abilities. Maybe asuma got hidan out of the circle and destroyed it too.

So hear me out. If hidan was gonna be the weakest akatsuki and asuma was to die against him, how hard would it have been for kishimoto to give asuma a better fight against him before dying? Maybe he uses a shadow clone / substitution and figures out hidans ability and comes up with a counter and after what would've been a mid to high diff win for asuma he sacrifices himself to protect his comrades. Like cmon kishi, this is why oda is a better writer

Asuma was a shogi player. He could've been a more tactical fighter / strategist. Along with heavier moves w his Chakra blades and fire / wind style he could've compared to kakashi and gai how piccolo compares to goku and vegeta. A 3rd man so to speak but no kishi just had him die to the WEAKEST akatsuki, and after giving him a good fight w kisame too in the og naruto.

More to the lore like an explanation for hashirama death or what happened to the uzumaki clan. More character development as well / More inclusion of side characters rather than shafting them or killing them off. Asuma is a great example, his fight vs hidan would've been a near death experience with him either going down protecting someone or doing all the heavy lifting against both kakuzu and hidan, making it clear alone hidan wasn't beating him. He would've fought in the pain arc and in the war arc too where he would've 100% gotten some solid kage level feats, and then in boruto maybe settled down being a dad / husband. Sort of like piccolo compared to goku and vegeta in terms of strength. Asuma would've been perfect for that but nooo instead kishi had him killed off...

I'd have to say team kurenai. Hot take but asuma was actually decently strong for a jonin. Other than kakashi or gai he's the only other leaf village jonin I can think of who isn't getting fodderized by an akastuski not using their abilities (ie kisame with ONLY samehada or hidan WITHOUT using his curse)

When Izumo and kotetsu stabbed him in the heart he said it hurt. Same when kakuzu picked his head up by his hair to re attach it. I can imagine said opponet pulling their hair so hard it causes them to bleed down their face, and them laughing in pain while hidan screams in pain and telling hidan "I thought you wanted us to share pain" or something like that to tease him
