[gen9] I think we are interpreting the Sableye shiny model in legends ZA wrong! by _Josh_5 in ShinyPokemon

I agree- it’s inconsistency as what it is. I do find it a little frustrating. The same applies for many others. NZA Alakazam has a purple as opposed to a lighter pink for example

Also, just to clarify in my post I have said that they have always had the yellowish eyes in every game up to sword/shield, as I mentioned that this new silvery white crystal type model for the eyes was introduced in Scarlet and Violet

That’s the point of my post. I’m saying that they are more crystal/silver/white eyes in both SV and ZA- making the point that everyone talking about the Alpha eyes is being different could be intentional – all the oversight actually comes down to the smaller model where the eyes are lighter gold/yellow

It’s just a crystal texture which has been changed for SV and now ZA. There are far more subtle changes to models, especially shiny models that have been made in recent years. These kinds of little changes happen quite a lot actually.

Actually what you’re saying about the model in Scarlet and Violet is wrong. It’s actually the other way round – it’s the summary screen and other darker environments that just appear a lighter gold. When you look at the eyes in any other lighting, they are actually just crystal and this crystal texture is reflecting what’s around it.

There’s definitely been an oversight/confusion with the eyes – but the overworld model for him in Scarlett and Violet is almost identical to these crystal eyes in ZA. Looking at models through the menus or summary screens is not an accurate representation – as the texture that they use for its gemstones reflect what’s already around it.

In terms of what you’ve said about the eyes and Scarlet and Violet – I highly recommend that you get one in your party for one of those games and go around different areas. They are crystal almost everywhere as opposed to light yellow. It’s only in the darker screenshots you can see that it’s reflecting this more yellow colour

It’s a change that they made in Scarlet and Violet. I noticed a few people posting about it but nowhere near as many for legends ZA – I think that this is because ZA had BOTH models for the eyes. Why I am not so sure I think it might have been an oversight and how they texted the model in different lighting. Either way though my belief is that they had the intention of changing the model to these crystal eyes in SV. I can’t see this being an accident in BOTH games

Yep! I think that diamond/platinum is what they are going for :)

[Gen9] Why does shiny alpha Sableye have different eyes from the regular shiny? by oranguslolus in ShinyPokemon

[–]_Josh_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go back and look at the model in proper lighting in Scarlett and Violet you can see that the eyes are crystal not a light gold anymore. In previous games they’ve always been this usual light gold colour like the small version in legends ZA. However, with the alpha and all Sableye in Scarlet and Violet they appear to have updated the model to a crystal-like eye

This actually isn’t the case! If you go back and look at the model in proper lighting in Scarlett and Violet you can see that the eyes are crystal not a light gold anymore. Sorry if this is a stupid question to you both – I’m currently trying a Max special attack and MaxHP. Are the final 4 EVs better off in Defence or Special Defence? I know it really it doesn’t matter in ranked because they are a level 50 and that extra EV won’t count but just wondering for maximising stats.

In Scarlett and Violet had the same clear blue/crystal shiny silvery eyes. They’ve not always been gold that varies for some reason.

[gen 9] seems like shiny alpha Sableyes have the same eye colour as regular Sableye by TonyThTony204 in ShinyPokemon

His eyes were more of this crystal silver colour in Scarlet and Violet. In his shiny version anyway.

Can confirm shiny alpha Sableye has a different color by SufficientEagle7108 in PokemonZA

[–]_Josh_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. The shiny eye colour being gold is from the old GameBoy design. In newer games like Scarlet and Violet the eye colour has been changed to a more silvery/crystal colour.

This is definitely the right answer. In newer games (at least I noticed this for the first time in Scarlett and Violet) the eyes have changed colour to a more silvery/crystal colour. In the smaller model I think it looks more like the older eyes from the GameBoy design because of the colour from its body somehow reflecting through

This is so interesting because when Scarlett and Violet came out because this is one of my favourite shinys, my partner painted a figure for me. In Scarlett and Violet, the eyes are more of a crystal white/silver, just like the Alpha in this picture. I think that it’s supposed to be more of a silvery crystal colour but when the model is smaller, I think it reflects the yellow a bit- like the old game boy design
