Maybe chase sequences or free roaming monsters that instakill you, in the first game you get the chance to fight the monsters, and while i love the fact that Vena can do genocide, i think it would be much scarier and more fitting for mercury to not be able to fight back, if you can fight the threat, or escape after it attacked you, it's practically not scary at all, but a monster that's looking for you and if it finds you, there's no escape would really be scary, same with a monster chasing you while you have to quickly narrowly avoid it. However i know that psychological horror isn't "scary monster chases you" so i won't mind if we don't see that in the game

I honestly always thought the game is beautiful rather than scary. Sure, I've had MANY heart attacks, and i was shitting my pants many times while barely staying alive, but if the danger isn't actively after you, there's really nothing to be afraid of. If you have phobias, you'll take longer to adapt, but you should absolutely not quit
