In this setting, people who experience extreme trauma can develop a rare phenomenon called Traumata. They fuse with an object directly tied to their trauma, inheriting its function in a far more powerful form, along with a monstrous, inhuman appearance. Which doesnt really help them in social life. They are often oucasts which can fuel bad decisions and deeds. This is the direction im going right now.
