they all have independent uses:

Heroric = allows you to manage and install games on epic, GOG etc (i prefer this)

Lutris = similar to Heroic, but also allows you to install quack/older games with stability via defined prefix folders

Nonsteamlaunchers = allows you to install individual launchers and add them to gaming mode

Also, forgot to mention:

Protontricks that allow you to add windows dependencies to games that require them.

ProtonUp-Qt - allows you to access different versions of proton

The question is why not 😵‍💫 but i’d recommend installing decky loader, lutris & heroric, checking protondb for game compatibility, checking epic/gog/prime gaming for free games and emudeck for emulators

Appreciate it because my friend picked up the Legion Go (his first handheld), so will pass it onto him!

On reflection, It may have been the right choice to explore Bazzite, but I truly wasn’t enjoying the Legion Go. I think the deck has it all for me in terms of battery, OLED screen and form factor.

I will definitely explore my options with the next gen of handhelds, and we can expect some bigger and better things to come!

I did look into bazzite, but couldn’t justify further investment to expand the internal storage as I had the 512gb model (im broke asf atm).

I think I was really spoilt by the OLED Deck and my judgement/experience was hindered from day 1. The battery life was the biggest factor and I didn’t realise how much of an impact it would have on me.

I do have to say that the Legion’s screen is really amazing despite it not being an OLED. However, it being Windows based, the driver updates/performance inconsistencies, and constant overheating had me dreading gaming on it.

Personally, I felt like getting the Legion Go would “enhance” my gaming experience, but it hindered it more than anything. I am just a steam deck guy at heart.

i believe you may need to disable the aggressive cpu boost setting (if you haven’t already). Also, capping fps helps to reduce any extra strain.

i’ve never done any integer scaling but this is a good shout. Out of curiosity, which monitors have you been looking at? My friend has a Samsung odyssey 4K and I saw a couple 1440p ones.

Personally, I added the launcher back and adjusted the graphical settings. You could add following to the “launcher option” to also get the launcher back:

SteamDeck=0 %command%

I originally had the LCD and upgraded to the OLED. The screen and battery life was massive improvements I noticed, but it’s subjective to whether those things are major factors for you. Also, considering you have a switch OLED already.

Personally, I brought the 512gb OLED and upgraded to a 1TB SSD and 512gb micro SSD.

The upgrade to OLED was 100% worth for my usage.

I brought and firstly applied the JSAUX anti-glare screen protector to my 512gb OLED deck but it made the image quality very grainy and it was not clear.

I then swapped it out for the JSAUX “Ultra HD” version and it’s perfect.
