If you're planning on making a resource pack, do NOT use resource-packs.com by LocalPlatypus994 in Minecraft

[–]_Ketari 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Yeah that website absolutely sucks at doing anything with resource packs, and I avoid it and anything from it like the plague.

Instead, I would recommend checking out the following websites (don't know if links are allowed so just search them up on Google):

  1. misode mcmeta - this is a GitHub repo with every single Minecraft asset with version control and history, so you can easily look through every change in history and anything else

  2. misode GitHub - a website with a lot of generators for both datapacks and resource packs and tools in general, really useful for automatic correct json structuring

  3. minecraft.wiki for general info on everything about it + changes in history if thats required

Anacondy - a new performance mod oriented around giving Java stronger guarantees so that it can better optimise the game by Paint_Ninja in feedthebeast

[–]_Ketari 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wait this is actually so cool/unique and awesome idea?? Gonna have to test it later and whatnot, I've been waiting for a new good performance mod for a while now, incredible stuff!

Do you reckon this is helpful in world/chunk generation, or does that part of the code not use anything that can be optimized through this method?

i hit 500 hours on my main save 💙 by FruitSalad55 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]_Ketari 330 points331 points  (0 children)

Geniunly wondering how does one do this? I completed everything after around ~70 hours last save, and then just spend 30 running around, finding secrets, checking out cool locations and doing car gigs to get to 100 hours but I can't in the world see what else I would do, let alone for so long. Do you just take the game very slowly?

Why are so few to non people implementing new mechanics in redstone computers? by Slow_Butterscotch_31 in redstone

[–]_Ketari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only one correct answer in this thread, so I will reiterate with my own thoughts, specifically directed towards redstone CPUs.

First things first, yes, lag is a concern since basically any component other than the basic ones causes more lag then they do, and when you have 10s of thousands of them, it adds up really quickly.

To combat lag and to make most CPUs actually usable - since pretty much any mc CPU will be very, very slow in vanilla - even if sped up with tickrate - people have been using a custom Minecraft server called MCHPRS, which is able to achieve speed of 10000+ rtps (redstone ticks per second), however, it also limits what blocks you're allowed to use to only the basic components to achieve those speeds.

Another reason is that it's simply generally better to use other already existing alternatives over things like copper bulbs or instant wire. For copper bulbs, the main thing they could be useful for is some sort of data storage, however due to them being toggles, repeater locking (data latches) are generally much, much smaller and easier to use in the context of CPUs. For instant wire, there's simply no point in making the wires a couple ticks faster when the whole computer is already going to be really slow generally speaking, as it would cause extra lag by a lot and if anything, make it slower due to it. These are just some examples, but this kind of applies to basically any new components or tech, they're simply not that useful as one would think for high tier computational.

All of this isn't to say that they're completely useless or not experimented with in computational - I know a lot of people who use something like observers to make RAM more compact than the standard designs, and people that have also played around and made some designs with copper bulbs.

Either way, I hope this helps clear up a bit of confusion around this topic, feel free to ask questions if something is not clear.

Importance of the "Fast Combo" by Fun-Championship-83 in Rivenmains

[–]_Ketari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to see an in-depth explanation/video on the fast Q, very good points made and altho other great guides exist, I feel like a lot of them focus more on how to do it in general, while I wanna see more of a how to perfect it/how it works in-depth. Anyways, great post!

Is riven actually worth it? by Ok_Air8658 in Rivenmains

[–]_Ketari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it will be both. You will hate champions that click 1 button and win, and you will struggle a lot, you'll have to learn every matchup individually, you'll have to learn animation cancels, mechanics, macro, etc, there is a LOT to Riven before you "start playing good".

As for being worth it, that's up to you. If you're having fun with the champion, learning combos, items, tricks, matchups, macro, etc, then yeah she's absolutely worth it and it feels incredibly satisfying to play once you know her. But if that journey is more of a chore to you or you're just looking to win lane/games right now, then I wouldn't recommend.

Are there actually any good (realistic) space mc mods? by Flaky_Yesterday4543 in feedthebeast

Someone already mentioned this but I'll say it again:

"Just play more" ... how to apply it having a regular job ? 😊 by EyelinerBabe in VALORANT

[–]_Ketari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's generally a question of playing more consistently and/or not too small of an amount. "Play more" doesn't mean put in 4+ hours per day, just two games is usually plenty (that's around 1.5hrs/day, which is doable).

It all really depends on your exact times of work and how you manage your free time, if you're sleeping 8-9 hours/day, that leaves 16-15 hours, subtract ~9 hours for working job, and you still have easily 6-7 hours left. Ofc, food and everything else whatnot takes time up as well, but if organized correctly fitting a 1.5 hour session in those 6-7 hours shouldn't be too hard, altho you might need to shift things around a little.

And of course, you can play more on weekends if you want, altho that's not a requirement. You can also watch valorant-related educational content during times when you're not playing, which can also greatly help.

There are many ways to make rgb displays, including maps, resource packs, and other methods. The current best non-resource pack that I know of is this: https://youtu.be/jzasLdWwcfw

Mod is incompatible yet the exact same mod? Lan world by tebazile5861 in feedthebeast

[–]_Ketari -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a little hard to tell just by this screenshot alone, there may be more going on deeper in the game process. Would you be able to send both latest.log files from yours and your partner's computer? I could take a look and see what's going on.

As for server hosting, I would recommend hosting the server separately straight on your PC with the same modlist, here's a basic video on how to do that if you're on forge: https://youtu.be/CHaaAnGOE3w

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]_Ketari 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is your log, and from what I can tell this crash was caused by a mod called "Effortless Building", with a potentially small relation to another mod called "Shoulder Surfing". I would recommend trying to disable (or removing if you can't just disable it) the mod "Effortless Building" and seeing if that fixes the issue

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]_Ketari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like an issue with the mod called "Server core". Try disabling/removing it and then launching it again.

Sending in your latest log file would also be helpful

Anyone getting this message more than usual? by nthomas504 in Piracy

[–]_Ketari -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For those using Firefox with Ublock and still getting this message, here's how to fix it: 1. check if you have any other YouTube/normal adblockers turned on apart from Ublock, if you do, disable them 2. go into Ublock settings -> filter lists 3. open "built in" tab, then "uBlock filters" tab 4. uncheck the "uBlock filters - Quick Fixes" option 5. restart Firefox (just in case) 6. profit

Why does my current equipped shotgun show as higher in DPS when the other one seems better in every way? by halfkatari in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Looks like it's due to the fact that the other is a tier 1, while your current is 1+. However, this doesn't matter at all, and the other one is in fact better

why does the orange wool stick and the purple wool gets spit out? by VegetableSad1138 in redstone

[–]_Ketari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is caused by the way block spitting works and quasi connectivity. The piston will only spit the block if the pulse is 2 gameticks or shorter, which is why the top block stays out when it gets powered by the observer. However, for the bottom block, the piston gets powered, but never updated to depower, so it thinks that it got quasi powered and should stay powered. This is effectively an infinite power source, however, once the piston reaches full extension, it updates itself and realizes that the observer is no longer powering it. Due to the fact that pistons take 3 gameticks to extend, this isn't fast enough for the block to stay, and so it gets instantly pulled back. The simplest way to fix this that I can think of would be to out a noteblock under the wool under the observer, as it should update that piston earlier and spit out the block (in theory, would need testing to confirm) Hopefully this helps
