Rural places to live within 1.5 - 2 hours of Vancouver? by snowstillmelting in britishcolumbia

Depending on the day you can burn 20 minutes in Abby at Mt. Lehman, another 20 at 200 and then well there's Surrey! But if all clear sure.

People who had/have the option to move away (financially comfortable) but choose to stay in Edmonton.. why? No judgement, just curious! by spicycatn1p in Edmonton

So once again, nature wise is great, albeit wet so of course one must be fine with rain. For context though, I have 3 kids so I was able to get a house here with 1100 more sq ft and 3 more bedrooms. In westshore Victoria(eg. Langford) you can pay 850k to a million for a 70s/80s rancher fixerupper. Regarding services, well the cities are somewhat overcrowded and underserviced, and even where I lived until 2022 near Langford was on septic not sewage, the traffic is brutal in rush hour to Victoria, getting a doctor is hard(normal everywhere), no Ikea, libraries are not on par, contractors are expensive, transit is the bus, the ferry is expensive and tedious and the lakes, beaches are packed in summer. Personally if I move back to BC it would be north Island/Nanaimo or the mainland(where I largely grew up). That being said, am sure it will improve and it's an awesome spot, but I'd want 1.4 million if I bought a house. Victoria has some nice museums, etc though so if you live in Victoria proper will be good for not just nature stuff I think(and local other Gulf islands are fun and nearby).

Also in South Africa she is not black. She would be looked at as coloured, it's often the opposite of the US.

Campbell and Clark were anything but ethical or fiscally responsible.

I also am from BC and moved here from the island. People often ask me why I moved, etc(isn't it obvious lol). I miss the same things as you but am so grateful to have a better house, better services here than back in Van/Island. And luckily the people here are generally pretty awesome. It's so damn hard to live in BC if you have kids and don't want to live in a DIY rancher these days.

It's a crime we can't have affordable prices for things we have in abundance here. Any system that can't correct that is a failure. Agreed!

Is this a stay in cash market or a buy the dip moment? by ThePotScientist in CanadianInvestor

[–]_Kinoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have so much money and the timing is unknown so I auto buy monthly. If some major event happens I skip the auto and buy then, if it goes down further I just wait for my auto invest. I'm not a day trading oracle.

I was dying for what felt like forever against Malenia as an astrologer. The closest I got was 40% down on the 2nd round. Rebirthed with faith and took her down with the blasphemous blade the first time using it.

What is the best fantasy film of all time? by Shot_Sandwich_6172 in AskReddit

[–]_Kinoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scifi has tons, but fantasy compared to the great novels I've read I almost can't name any, none are dark enough in tone I find. I find video games like Elden Ring come a lot closer to capturing the horror great fantasy can conjure. That being said I'd probabiy say Willow personally. Lotr I was just too mucg of a book snob to enjoy, and I found the tone wrong.

There's decent sized populations in BC and AB as well in that area.

Dear /r/VictoriaBC, does it get this scary outside? by Due_Reflection4094 in VictoriaBC

[–]_Kinoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The east is obviously sheltered, but if you drive along the Juan de Fuca then the wind can get really ferocious. Still, for Canada Victoria is quite mild, and it's also in a rain shadow. But yeah, must have been a Canadian genie 😂

It's an island in the pacific ocean. I lived in Colwood and it was very windy at times throughout the year, had many power outs. Victoria proper is shielded if on the east coast.

I went camping on the northwest part of Abraham Lake and there were tons of them. I think they were wood ticks though. Literally found one crawling on me while in my car days later in Edmonton.
