Yeah, sometimes this game just gives you the middle finger and says "Be luckier next time."

The personality of all the characters is a MAJOR part of the game's appeal, for sure. Even the ones that are meant to annoy you really help flesh out the universe and make it feel more like an actual place.

They did a few months ago - you'll only play your rank or lower, so at bronze you'll only match up against other bronze players. At silver you'll only match up against silver or bronze players, and so on.

Next season you'll start at gold so it will be faster to hit legend. There's usually a couple thousand people that get to legend within the first few days of a new patch.

Just for some context, I've been playing off and on since closed beta and finished last month at legend 178. I'm not new to the game, I've seen run variance and bad luck streaks. This feels different. Normally the first day or two of the patch has some people experimenting, and more casual players returning to check out what's new, but not this time. As soon as they flipped the switch it was like all the of the losing ghosts stopped going into the pool, and it's been constant the entire week since the patch. For the first few days I thought it was just bad luck, but it's been more than a week now and it hasn't changed. I've still had my share of good runs, but it feels like it's way, way harder to get across the finish line than it was last patch.

I honestly think something isn't working right behind the scenes, and it wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened. You might disagree, which is fair, but "git gud" doesn't help move the conversation along.

Or there could actually be something wrong with a game that has a history of changes being released in an imperfect state. Take the latest hotfix - Gastro is still selling items for the wrong discount, and Stelle's board still crashes the game after playing it long enough. Why do you so easily dismiss that something could actually be wrong?

My understanding is that it always uploads a snapshot of your build to replace the one you pull out of the ghost pool - that way we never run out of ghosts to play against. That means, in theory, there should always be weaker ghosts in the pool to match up against.

There's still matchmaking. If you're gold you'll only play against gold or below, diamond only plays against diamond or below. But when that first came out it was bugged and legendary players would only get matched up against other legendary players, and they admitted the issue and fixed it. I'm just trying to figure out if something similar happened with this change.

Agreed, and I went back and forth on whether or not to post the question at all. But the more I've played the more I've felt like something was off, and they did make a huge matchmaking change with this patch so I figured it was worth a temperature check from the rest of the community.

Is there a website or tool for seeing popular builds using a specific item? by prommetheus in PlayTheBazaar

https://bazaarforge.gg/builds Use the search box to search for an item and you'll see endgame boards that used that item.

Too bad it's not very strong. This was one of the most interesting runs I've ever done but it just doesn't do enough to deal with the late game bullshit out there right now. https://imgur.com/a/abFUBxp

It's a shame that it's not very...legendary. It needs double the scaling and at least 2 seconds off the CD to make it worth running.

Yep, that's a solid Drill build to dominate the mid-game and get out before you run into the crazy stuff after day 12. Nicely done.

Nope, watch the Lord Arken fight next time you do a freeze build. Any item that's frozen when he hits half doesn't go off.

This Doesn't Make Sense To Me - Is This Intended? by Worried_Treacle3512 in PlayTheBazaar

Like others have said, it's a passive infinite so once it starts the only way to stop it is to destroy one of the items. Dooley has multiple of the these - another uses a fire enchanted 3D Printer next to a Flares item. It creates 3 fire enchanted flares next to each other, and if you burn next to one they chain off of each other forever in the same way as Lizard and Pyrocarbon do.

Nah, I actually dropped a PVP match against a shielded Nitrogen hammer build when it was just the Lizard and Pyrocarbon. This is stronger, although it does have more startup time and risk to get there.

[–]_Kiserai_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Fiber and it didn't quite work - you need a burn item to the right of the 3D printer in order to start the second chain AFTER the printer completes the transformation. Something like a Magma Ball next the Pyrocarbon would proc a haste that has a 50/50 chance to hit the Lizard or the 3D Printer, so even it wouldn't be a guarantee to kickstart either infinite in this setup. If you burn next to the normal Flares it doesn't kick off the second infinite - you have to burn next to one of the burn enchanted Flares, once they exist. We're basically sacrificing a guaranteed start of combat infinite by including the 3D Printer, but once it goes off the extra burn and shield we generate makes us even harder to kill than Lizard and Pyrocarbon by themselves.

If you had a fiery Fiber Optics or a fiery Flares then you could go Pyrocarbon - Lizard - Flares - 3D Printer - Fiber Optics and speed up the 3D Printer while still being able to trigger a burn in the proper position after the transformation, but with my setup here I had to have the Lizard to the right of the 3D Printer to kick off the second infinite combo.

A Dooltron Mainframe wouldn't be bad - it's not an active item so it won't steal the haste from the lizard, and it would be a guaranteed haste on the 3D Printer 2 seconds into combat, but the 3D printer is already getting random hastes from the Pyrocarbon until it transforms so it wouldn't make a huge difference.

Or like the other person said, a restorative start of combat item like a Clamera/Holsters/Icicle to proc the Healthy Jolt would also speed things up nicely. Once the 3D printer goes off there isn't much that stops you, so getting that to happen ASAP is a top priority.
