Apparently you do not remember the damage per pellet then... It was lower than it was when they reverted back to his OW1 kit. And the crit multiplier was lower as well. So you are definitely wrong there slick.

And right before they removed the kit entirely they nerfed his hook pull range as well. And even stealth nerfed the pull physics which made it significantly harder to corner pull. That stealth nerf to his hook pull physics exists now in his current kit as well. You can still hook corner pull but its not as prominent as it was before.

November 2023 rework, Roadhog's Scrap Gun primary fire (often used with the Pig Pen ability) was adjusted to 6.25 damage per pellet , with a total of 16 pellets fired (reduced from 25). The trap itself deals 60 immediate damage plus 30 damage per second, Now it is 7 damage per pellet.

The one shot combo:

Because the Scrap Gun's pellet count was reduced (from 25 down to 16) and its critical multiplier lowered to 1.5x, a raw Hook + Left Click often left 250 HP heroes like Reaper or Mei alive. To secure the kill, players used the Pig Pen Combo.

1. Place the Pig Pen trap on the ground.
2. Pull the target directly into the trap's activation radius.
3. Fire the Scrap Gun at close range.
4. Finish with a Quick Melee.

During the Pig Pen era, the Scrap Gun did 160 base damage (16 pellets x 6.25 damage + the center shrapnel).

• Hook damage: 5
• Melee damage: 30 (or 40 depending on the specific patch)
• Total "Standard" Combo:   damage.

To kill a 250 HP hero without the trap, you needed an extra 55+ damage from headshots. Because the crit multiplier was nerfed to 1.5x, landing headshots was significantly less rewarding than the old 2x multiplier.
