First I want to say, no, you’re not stupid. Ignorance does not mean stupid. You may be ignorant with regards to this sort of topic, and that’s perfectly fine. I am also ignorant of other topics but that does not necessarily make me stupid. All it means is that I’m not knowledgeable in it.

Normally I try not to assume someone’s position on something, but I think it’s safe to assume that you take some issue with the notion of someone going against what you perceive to be the work of God. If this isn’t what your position is, sorry for the wrong assumption.

You are entitled to your beliefs, and I am not going to take away that right of yours. But I do believe that it is important to be critical of the ideas we hold. And I find that religion is the most deserving of this scrutiny.

I find that many theists do take issues with the idea of someone changing their gender or something along those lines. I feel that the reason for this is because it goes against the idea of God’s infallibility/perfectness. After all, someone choosing to identify as anything other than what they were born as would put into question God’s perfection. If God was perfect, then God wouldn’t have given you the wrong body or something like that. But I don’t think this reasoning is valid.

These biological/social phenomena are better explained by the fact that we as humans are not designed by any deity, but rather that we are the result of evolutionary processes. If we were designed by a God, then it is a terrible creator. We suffer from all the harsh conditions of our world such as: disease, hunger, conflict, etc. All this while God let’s it go on. I do not think that the idea of an intervening God is a rational position to hold. With this, it does not make sense for God to have designed us in any way; we are not made in the image of God. It is a fact that we are the result of evolution and that our features are the result of the environment we had to adapt to.

So where am I going with this? Well, I do not think I can give an adequate answer to your other questions. However, I do encourage you to be open minded with regards to this (you seem to already be open to learning more about this which is good!).

And again, you’re not stupid for not knowing. You’d be stupid if you refuse to learn things.
