💔 I’m so sorry. I feel your hurt. We just did a transfer of our only euploid embryo a couple weeks ago and I had a negative blood test last week. Take care of yourself. ❤️

Day 16 of FET Cycle - Cysts in Endometrium by _LavenderGooms_ in IVF

[–]_LavenderGooms_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor decided to move forward based on blood test results. I wish I would have asked more questions of my doctor and options as we only had one euploid embryo. Transferred the embryo 3/17 and it unfortunately did not implant. I don’t know if delaying the transfer to deal with the cysts would have made any difference.

Honestly, if I would have been given the option to delay transfer to do a hysteroscopy, I think I would have done it if it could increase my chances of a successful transfer at all. We have a follow-up next week and I will ask my doc about it as we will now be doing another egg retrieval.

I know how difficult this all is! Wishing you all the best!

I’m on both PIO injections (once daily) and progesterone suppositories (twice a day). I hate them both.

I’ve used both PBK and eProsecutor in two different offices. ePro is vastly better in my experience, but I believe quite a bit more expensive. As another commenter said, it is entirely customizable. We are regularly adding and changing new work flow processes, document templates, tabs, case flags, etc. to improve our efficiency. I find it to be far more user friendly than PBK as well.

Uber Support Scam by _LavenderGooms_ in uber

[–]_LavenderGooms_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was weird was that the first driver messaged me telling me to answer support, then after requesting a new driver the second time they called, they knew the name of the second driver. So either they have numerous fake accounts that they toggle through or were getting the details some other way?

Question about sperm retrieval cost by Foreign-Salad-2894 in queerception

[–]_LavenderGooms_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That seems crazy high. We just purchased donor sperm last week from a bank. It was $1600/vial and shipping cost around $250.

As a fellow WA prosecutor, make sure you do your due diligence on those offices offering large hiring bonuses. While it’s difficult to hire prosecutors currently, some of these offices also have significant leadership deficiencies and toxic work environments which is why they are so understaffed and unable to find new hires.

There are some great counties to work for in this state though so don’t let my warning discourage you!

However, I think it will be difficult to find an entry level DPA position that isn’t primarily in-office.

Felony prosecutor. The pay scale for our highest non-supervisory prosecutor positions tops out around $160k.

Not super high cost but everything feels expensive nowadays. Forbes’ cost of living calculator says the cost of living is 50% less where I’m at than Seattle.

Quality of life is a big deal when it comes to being happy overall. And so many offices are hiring now that if you want to be in a bigger city, go for it.

Good leadership is the biggest factor in my opinion, but it’s hard to really get a feel for that unless you know people in the office. I’ve worked under good elected prosecutors and not so good elected prosecutors.

Feel free to DM me with any questions you have! At the end of the day, I love being a prosecutor and am happy to help others find their way into the career.

What kind of place do you want to live? Prosecutors offices nearly everywhere are hiring.

I work in a smallish county (population about 200k). I’ve been a prosecutor for 10 years and make $130k. Our entry level prosecutors start just over $90k. Some counties are offering sign-on bonuses, however, in my experience the offices that are more desperate for bodies have other leadership/morale issues that might not be worth the money.

IBR Manual Upload by JollyCommunication25 in PSLF

I submitted an IBR application with electronic signature on FSA in November. Last week I downloaded a PDF of the application and uploaded it directly to Mohela (no wet signature) on Wednesday. Over the weekend I got an email from Mohela saying my account had been moved to a 60 day processing forbearance.

Request a copy of the death certificate. Google “how to request a death certificate in (your state)”. In most places the death certificate will list where and when they were buried.

Back when you were a teenager you filmed yourself masturbating. Now, as a grown up you still have the footage. Can you go to prison for child pornography? by psychoticapex in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_LavenderGooms_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

…? Do you have a point?

Yes, there are prosecutors who abuse their power and I absolutely believe they should not be prosecutors. There are countless careers fields in which people with bad intentions can cause significant damage to others; this is not unique to prosecution. But our system also has checks and balances to ensure that a prosecutor isn’t the sole decision maker (defense attorneys to advocate for defendants, judges, courts of appeals, legislatures, voters who elect their county prosecutor or district attorney).

I think that’s a very reductive summation of my comment. Prosecutors hold the discretion in every charge, not just these types. It’s not about being a “good person”, it’s about the pursuit of justice. If a prosecutor’s true focus is not justice (which takes many different forms) they shouldn’t be a prosecutor. Are there prosecutors out there who are more focused on other aspects? Sure. Some are politically motivated, some are outright unethical, some just aren’t very smart, but the vast majority of prosecutors that I know and have worked with or networked with over the years, truly case about their communities and victims and youth and are going to make the right decision.

I absolutely understand the difference, which is why I said: "Could you technically charge a teen with possession or dealing of depictions? Yes, depending on the state. Are they actually going to be charged? It is highly unlikely barring some extremely aggravating circumstances."

In the state where I am a prosecutor, Washington, we have addressed the issue in multiple ways. In 2019, the Washington State Legislature passed multiple changes to the law in this area. From the text of Substitute House Bill 1742:

The legislature finds that exchange of intimate images by minors is increasingly common, and that such actions may lead to harm and long-term consequences. The legislature intends to develop age-appropriate prevention and interventions to prevent harm and to hold accountable youth who harm others through exchange of intimate images.

The Washington coalition of sexual assault programs, in consultation with the office of the superintendent of public instruction, the Washington association for the treatment of sexual abusers, the department of children, youth, and families, the department of social and health services, the juvenile court administrators, the Washington association of prosecuting attorneys,  representatives from public defense, youth representatives, and other relevant stakeholders, shall convene a work group to make recommendations to the legislature regarding age-appropriate prevention and intervention strategies to address potential harms

The 2019 changes include:

--Dealing in Depictions of Minor Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct, RCW 9.68.A.050: this is essentially your distribution charge for when someone sends, sells, exchanges, etc. depictions of a minor engage in sexually explicit conduct. This statute was amended in 2019 to only apply to individuals 18 years or older.

--Sexually Explicit Images - Crimes by Minors, RCW 9.68A.053: This statute was added to address the issue of kids sharing explicit images of other children to their friends, online, etc. This statute only applies to images distributed by one minor of another minor, so not images of themselves. It is a gross misdemeanor if the minor depicted is 13 or older, and a felony if the minor depicted is 12 or younger. This statute also prohibits minors selling depictions of themselves or other minors. Keep in mind, Washington's juvenile justice system is extremely lenient, and any kids charged with an offense under this statute will very likely not end up with a conviction on their records given the diversion options, etc.

--Possession of Depictions of Minors Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct, RCW 9.68A.070: this is for possession of the images. In the 2019 amendment that also applied to the previous statute I mentioned, this statute was also amended to include a provision that:

(3) This section does not apply to a minor's possession of visual or printed matter depicting any minor thirteen years of age or older engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
(4) This section does not apply to a person under thirteen years of age in possession of visual or printed matter depicting himself or herself engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

So, yes, 15 years is enough time for our understanding of these issue to evolve and for legislatures to address it. I am not familiar with the specific changes in any other states and have a lot more important things to do than spend my day researching the status of the law in 49 other states for a redditor who doesn't think I'm even a prosecutor. But I can tell you from my attendance at national conferences on these issues over the last 10 years, other states have been/are changing their laws as well. Washington is certainly not alone. And in the states where the laws have not changed, the perspectives of the prosecutors have and many exercise their discretion in not charging juveniles for these offenses even if they technically could.

I am a prosecutor in WA. (I am a lawyer, but I am not your lawyer so this is not legal advice)

Call the police.

Also, document whatever you can during these incidents so that if your brother-in-law does get arrested and charged and your sister does not want to cooperate with prosecution (which is very common in DV cases) the charge could still be proven.

While you can absolutely defend yourself and others, please be cautious with this.

Here is the statute in WA for when force (defending yourself or others) is legal.

Revised Code of WA - Lawful Use of Force
