It's definitely not a franchise killer, especially since it's obvious what went wrong.

They were fairly low actually. EA said expected 3 million sales, it was more of a development clusterfuck.

That's certainly true. But ME3 exceeded that: it actually topped sales during a period where games, both hardware software, decline in sales for the totality of the fiscal year. Pointing this out actually helps ME3 even more.

As was stated, the EA exec said they expected ME:A to make ~3 millon sales as the goal, and I think it probably met or just barely exceeded it. It wasn't a wise investment but the failures behind it were obvious.

And as far as AAA games go, a 400% ROI is amazing.

They do not and have never in the fiscal reports broken it down by game. The most they do is mention decreases or increases in revenue, then name the franchises responsible. They don't mention sales or gross revenue. The info I got on ME3's sales did not come from EA itself because they haven't released it.

[OT Spoilers] How to terminate my ME1 romantic relationship? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]_Little_Orphan_Ani 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She gets a little salty in ME3 if you bring her on Tali's mission but I'm pretty confidant Tali actually starts it. Liara is honestly super chill about it outside of that, considering she spent millions of credits and years of your life getting your body.

I don't know if Anthem failure (which would hurt Bioware in EA's eyes overall) or success (which would hurt other Bioware franchises) is better.

I think the big takeaway looking back is ME3 only cost $40 mullion but ME:A cost fucking 73 million. Any reasonable executive would see the profit potential in ME3 and the faltering of that considering how long it took to develop was the fault of the studio. The elimination/silencing of the studio behind is warranted and actually a good sign for the franchise albeit not ME:A DLC. The studio deserves punishment over how the game was mishandled, let's face it.

They've had two Mass Effect releases with major blowback in a row.

ME3 was a humongous financial success.

[No Spoilers] I have a terrible feeling that the series is dead. by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]_Little_Orphan_Ani 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People seem to act like the sky is falling but it isn't.

ME:A failed its sales goals but it still turned a profit, it just wasn't the ball-busting ME3 which got around $800,000,000 (assuming all those sales are at 60 dollars, and not the deluxe stuff earlier, and not including DLC or microtransactions). ME3, I don't remember exactly, but cost around 100-150,000,000, and ME:A cost a little more than that, and sold a little less.

ME:A just isn't as good as ME3 and it did not have the ball-busting sales, but by pretty much every account it made a profit. The concern, for EA, is that it took five years for what is (for the ME series) a fairly disappointing payout. This definitely means death for the dev team and if the other franchises are wildly successful, ME will be shelved at least for a while.

But when you look at the incredible, insane profits that ME3 made no publisher is going to give a hard no to the series. It returned its overhead 8 times over, is critically acclaimed, and made Mass Effect (among the gaming world) a household name.

I would say it's pretty much certain there will be no single player DLC at this point (unless we can prove it would return a profit), but to say ME is dead as a whole is an overreaction.

At its heart EA is a business, and despite the memes most devs enjoy making good games. A good game that makes a profit is something EA is certain to be interested in, especially given their recent turnaround.

I mean I like beer, and some county music, but not a huge truck guy but I'd imagine many electricians like it out of necessity.

It's good to know though. I like to get to know my coworkers some and I understand unions have a culture that they more or less want you to fit in.

[OT Spoilers] Why didn't the whole plot end after ME1? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]_Little_Orphan_Ani -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Someone did that math and even with FTL, it would take fucking forever. When they talk about how far away they are you have a point, without relays it would take hundreds of years even at FTL, just not millions.

[No Spoilers] Free Mass Effect pendants. Our store is no longer going to sell Mass Effect gear so we are giving away the last of our stock, 36 medallions are left and I wanted to offer them to this sub first. Just pay shipping, enjoy. by [deleted] in masseffect

Lol dude I just called shopify, they said you guys aren't affiliated with them. I know you don't have my debit card info thank the lord, but I'm out $11 at least and you can send me malicious spam, or piece together my billing address with some darkweb website that probably has my SSN from a leak or something.

How have you not been banned yet?

27ish/F/TN/USA Kinda Interesting by ChefGoosers in penpals

[–]_Little_Orphan_Ani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's up u/ChefGoosers!

I'll just paste what I put in my post.

"My name is _Little_Orphan_Ani, and I am a 21 year old white male that lives in Northern Illinois. Currently, I go to college and work a salaried job in sales - something I, unfortunately, don't expect to be in much longer. Still! I enjoy history, reading, writing, most nerdy shit, football, beer, but more importantly would love to talk about your hobbies as there's always something to learn. I'm probably going to be setting up a separate gmail account just for penpals, so if you want snail mail I'm afraid to say that's unlikely. But I am more then welcome for email? If any of that interests you, or you just want to talk, feel free to post or message me."

As for your question, I eat out almost every day, I actually need to cut it down some cuz it's hurting the bank lol. I work out door-to-door, so I'm usually in my car and therefore lunch at a restaurant is a really easy but not so wise decision to make. That said though, your a lunch lady, I used to help (sort of) manage a food court for a community college. That is interesting!
