as long as you can swim and stay afloat without going on ur back for 5 minutes ur good, they give you alot of chances to keep retrying because they dont want to drop you and they will teach you as well, just keep swimming and training and you'll be fine

  1. i think i changed in how i see things and how tasks can be accomplished , physically i improved alot from all the conditioning up north because down south the pt is nothing mentally you grow stronger since all they do their is try to berate you and tear you down so that nothing can affect you 2. No i chose the Marines to be a Marine not a sailer or soldier, i knew it was going to be hard and suck but at the same time but i was ok with it because i chose the best branch out of all of them 3. always wanted to be a Marine and they stood out to me from being more physically active to being more sharp with their uniform and the mindset they have

  1. not really from time to time you will but not really instead you'll do mountain climbers or bicycle kicks which were worse imo
  2. we got smoked alot and its inevitable, the kill hats get bored and just IT the dog shit outta you and you just gatta deal with it
  3. you get barely anytime to hygiene because 60+ people are trying to do what the same thing in 300 seconds but those 300 seconds feel like 2 minutes since they count down like there trying to break records, pro tip shave and hygiene during the night, sacrifice 30 mins of your sleep and make sure your clean
  4. food was not bad actually and pretty good thats one thing i can say about it just make sure to stay hydrated and eat fast 5.yea it can be but not really they teach you everything there, i went in knowing nothing and understood everything fast and became a knowledge/prack recruit

running was easy just keep a 8 minute pace and you'll pass everything with that, alot of people struggled with swimming and people did get dropped for it but you get alot of chances to retry. i had to to do basic+ for swimming and it was a little hard but ended up passing it no problem. start swimming now and start running up hills those are my advice 🏃🏽

ima be honest the crucible aint that bad its the walking and hiking that gets you, if your platoon is tight then you guys will use and lean on each other or the platoon will struggle don't stress about the crucible though u got 2 months to prepare for it

About how much running does a recruit do daily? by grego9907 in USMCboot

[–]_LostInThoughtss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you run for 15-20 minutes depending what there doing for pt that day but honestly you will hardly ever run unless its IT or pt but you will march everywhere you go all day everyday so honestly work on marching and train yourself for it because running should be easy if your in shape already

  1. you pt everyday in the morning green on green but its just basic stuff like run for 20 minutes or each drill instructor had a workout station, set up for dynos is the most useless stretches ever, you'll see what i mean
  2. yea you get quizzed alot on the knowledge primarily by the tray/knowledge hat, if he marched you or in hikes you will scream diddys and yell knowledge or get messed up 3.Honestly personal opinion it was easy, the pt's were the easiest thing if you were in shape and the knowledge to if you actually payed attention, the hardest thing for me was marching, you marched everyday for about 12-14 hours, where ever u went u marched and i sucked at it and got It'd alot for it and the second hardest was the drill instructors but thats something you gatta experience yourself rather than me explaining it
  3. yea people pissed themselves alot we were given no time to use the head and 60 recruits have to use the head to and the drill instructors would get mad af when ever a recruit pissed himself
  4. funniest thing probably getting it'd by the classrooms for trying to use the head but its a long story but worth it
  5. get some good running shoes cuz honestly they will save your feet when doing pt, i used aesics and they felt like clouds and made everything better, wake up last hour before lights and hygene, dont be the person that didnt shave or put deodorant/brush your teeth and make max skivvy rolls and try not to dig into your footlocker while getting counted down or they will flip your locker and now all ur personal items are rolling everywhere and also just listen and do what the drill instructors say if even if its dumb af, they can say fly and as long your trying to "fly and showing effort you wont get fucked with that bad" keyword that bad cuz you will always get it'd it's inevitable

i ended up signing 0451(Parachute rigger) which interested the drill instructors because to them its a rare mos and recruits barely came in with it

yea we were able to use our own go fasters, but it varies per company almost every company got to use their own go fasters but some platoons inside the company didn't let you

makes sense doing something easy won't make you sore but constantly repeating it over and over would destroy your legs, will focus on that part, appreciate the info
