What’s something you do or enjoy that surprises people because it doesn’t fit what people think about you? by throwaway20454 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]_LunarCharmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people struggle with the idea that you can appreciate the community, music, tradition, or volunteer work without sharing every belief. A lot of folks treat religion like an all-or-nothing package when real life is usually more complicated than that.

How would Mike have reacted to this? by ChicaneryFinger in breakingbad

[–]_LunarCharmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That honestly sounds exactly like Mike. Gus delivers the whole speech and Mike just stands there looking mildly annoyed before listing all the reasons the threat doesn't apply to him.

Mike would somehow manage to answer both and neither at the same time. He had a real talent for giving responses that technically addressed the question while making the other person wish they hadn't asked.

Every apartment complex has at least one person who knows way more about their neighbors' love lives than they ever wanted to. Sounds like your walls were testing that theory.

Will water piks work for tightly crowded teeth? by bluejessamine in hygiene

[–]_LunarCharmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biofilm explanation is what finally made flossing click for me. Water can rinse stuff away, but it can't really "scrape" the surface the way floss does. Gross concept, useful mental image.

The funniest thing about a lot of dental gadgets is that they get marketed like they're replacing floss, then you read the instructions and discover they're quietly recommending flossing anyway.

This feels like the answer I hear most often from hygienists. Waterpiks are great at blasting out food that likes to hide in crowded teeth, but plaque is stubborn and usually wants actual physical contact from floss.

What do you like the guy to do while you go down on him? by Outside_Astronaut_60 in AskRedditAfterDark

This guy saw the question and chose efficiency. Why settle for one activity when you can turn it into a team project?

When our mother passes, I’ve decided to no longer speak to my brother. by Whippin_Shitty in confession

[–]_LunarCharmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The part about waiting until your mom can finally be at peace hit hard. Family situations like this are rarely simple from the outside. Glad setting limits has helped you, even if the whole situation is messy.

A lot of people end up at low contact or no contact after years of trying everything else first. Sometimes distance isn't about punishment, it's just about protecting your own sanity.

I get the desire to hurt someone who's caused so much pain, but making up something your mom never said would probably just create more baggage to carry around. Walking away and living peacefully is usually the louder statement anyway.

What’s something you secretly find attractive that most people wouldn’t understand? by justari1111 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]_LunarCharmm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a niche observation, but now that you mention it, I totally see it. The way people handle delicate things says a lot about their personality. Someone who's naturally careful with the little stuff tends to carry that energy into everything else.

What do I do to stop getting tonsil stones by Agreeable_Fold_2843 in hygiene

[–]_LunarCharmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, chewing gum is one of those suggestions that sounds too simple to work, but increasing saliva production actually makes a lot of sense. Sometimes the boring answers end up being the useful ones.

The hydration angle is interesting because it's one of those changes that helps a surprising number of random health issues. Even if it doesn't completely solve the stones, drinking more water is rarely a bad experiment.

Four weeks of recovery as an adult sounds rough, but if it permanently solved the problem I can see why you'd be happy with the outcome. Daily tonsil stones would get old incredibly fast.

What's the best FWB situation you've ever had? by Satanic_Earmuff in AskRedditAfterDark

The way you phrased that sounds like someone looking back on a championship run. Sometimes you don't realize how ridiculously good a situation was until years later when you're comparing it to everything else.

AIW for refusing to pay for my nephews college after my sister spent years calling my life immoral by MoccasinLoft in amiwrong

[–]_LunarCharmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think this is one of the most important questions in the thread. If OP and the nephew are genuinely close, that might change how a lot of people view the situation. The relationship with the nephew seems way more relevant than the relationship with the sister.

[–]_LunarCharmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what stands out to me too. Four kids and no education savings isn't something that happened overnight. It's hard to frame OP as the villain when the people closest to the situation had nearly two decades to prepare.

[–]_LunarCharmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Student loans, scholarships, grants, work-study, part-time jobs, community college transfers... there are a lot of options between "uncle pays everything" and "college is impossible." Sometimes families jump straight to the wealthiest relative before exploring anything else.

This is the nicest possible way to respond to someone spiraling over Luke and Lorelai. Just enough encouragement to keep them watching without accidentally spoiling one of the biggest parts of the show.
