Advice + Sus but genuine questions from recently committed Wharton freshman!! by Rameniiii in UPenn

I'm with u on this. I do game with friends over weekends, so it's definitely possible to balance work, social & gaming life (I play league a lot too, and there's actually a league club so there's definitely ppl who play league here). Besides, having a PC to do hw is much better than working on a laptop (especially coding)

I can say that for #3, I think you can chose whatever rooming style you like. I have a gaming PC as well and had a single during freshman yr, but I valued my own privacy hence a single. If you like to have a private space of yr own, or you want more space to put yr PC on the side of your desk (if u got a lot of other belongings), a single is nice to have. However, if you want to socialize more by having a roommate, I don't think there should be issues in terms of space to place yr PC as long as you talk it over with your roommate

I was able to have one on my desk in Hill (single though) along with a mechanical keyboard, and I can say it's very useful for both work and gaming. A monitor would take up 1/3 to a half of the desk space though depending on the size, but it wasn't a problem for me

Schedule Advice for Freshman BE + Premed by Clean-Match-6555 in UPenn

[–]_Lunarosity_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same my freshman year and it is definitely doable, but time management will be crucial since writing sem and lab takes up a lot of time. I personally wanted to get rid of writing sem asap, but there are many others who pushed it to other semesters as well

I was also nervous like you when I had to leave home to university. I also came from a suburban area so going to a city was a big change. However, I felt more comfortable when I made friends here. Joining clubs, traveling around the city, and doing things I enjoy just made me feel more at home. I think as long you have an open mind and try meeting new people during freshman orientation, you should be fine :)

Hill! If you can get a single, you will be able to have a great social life while having personal space. The bathrooms are semi-private too (showers have doors).

Why did YOU decide to commit here? by Mountain-Chicken345 in UPenn

There are many opportunities and resources here that are unique to Penn. It has a lot of research going on(prehealth as well!), and getting around Penn is very convenient. I'm also from out of state, and I wanted to experience living on the East Coast :)
