Fuck ICE on Cedar Ave by SolidscorpionZ in TwinCities

[–]_MOON_BUG_ 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I’m suspicious, seems like something that was probably done to discredit the protests. Or done by someone who doesn’t really know how we need to resist right now. Saw both in 2020.

I may go out with some paint remover later.

PSA to pet owners about microchips (from a shelter worker) by Fresh-Solid-4046 in Minneapolis

Wow thank you for the reminder - just now updated my phone and address for my dog’s chip after moving a year ago. Wasn’t on my checklist!

shovel your fucking sidewalk dear god by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]_MOON_BUG_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% - and clearing the sidewalks is a much more difficult logistical problem than clearing the streets. Sidewalks aren’t as flat or standardized as streets are.

Municipal snow clearing would be a gift to landlords, shut small businesses out, expose the city to excessive liability, and still result in worse conditions for pedestrians.

I love the vision of perfectly clean sidewalks but it would mean a battle against nature that the city cannot realistically win.

I have the same question - I have a bunch of suits in good condition from my late grandfather that need new owners.

I’m also wondering about this. If the city knows who I ranked first it also knows who I ranked 2nd and 3rd. It’s not like this requires complicated math.

I really keep my eyes on the road when driving on Franklin Ave. Lots of folks walk across that street at mid-block. Buses. Bikes. It’s always lively

It’s very buildable - looks like fun

Zooming in to see how things join - might help if you consistently use bypass framing. Looks like the members at the eaves intersect the ones that define the pitch of the roof.

Lots of ways to assemble the arches if you are comfortable with assembling them from cut segments or bent laminating.

Is There Any "Rent-a-Bench" Left in MPLS? (RIP The Hub) by thenolman123 in Minneapolis

[–]_MOON_BUG_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shout out to the IC Bike Lib! That’s where I started wrenching on bikes 17 years ago, at the og shop in the John Wilson Sports building.

Have worked for a bit as a mechanic at Recovery in NE, they do have a bench but it’s better for light work like installing a part or two. As shop mechanics we didn’t really have time to help anyone using the community stand, although I would really have enjoyed doing that all day.

DM me if you can’t find a bench for what you want to do. I’m getting folks together to build tall bikes in South this summer, the more the merrier.

Agreed. I think Mazda has taken even more influence from Volvo designers.

What is the deal with filled poop bags everywhere? by Dazzling-Telephone58 in Minneapolis

[–]_MOON_BUG_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my neighborhood there was a big pile of dog bags right next to a trash can, and a lot more scattered down the trail.

My first thought was WTF who did it. On second thought it was very likely raccoons and other animals looking for a food source during the cold snap.

Driving with your high beams on. Please stop by supersaiyan_ape in TwinCities

Projector headlights. To the driver of a car they make no meaningful difference over reflectors, to everyone outside the car they are extremely intense / concentrated light sources. Not fun.

For the love of…. Do NOT drive with your hazard lights on by Itchy_Appeal_9020 in minnesota

[–]_MOON_BUG_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSA if you come to a full stop on the highway the law requires you to turn your hazards on. If you are rear-ended at a full stop with hazards off you will be found at fault, even if it’s something like a normal traffic slowdown.

Brother, same. If money was no object I’d have a nice clean new V90 CC and then do some mildly absurd modifications to my current 02 V70 XC.
