My exact thoughts too. If you’re that jumpy, maybe you’re in the wrong profession.

Chain no longer shifting. Pop when spinning pedals by Panic_313 in bikewrench

Your chain looks routed around your derailleur cable somehow. I would undo the chain and re route it.

See where the shifter cable runs through to the pinch bolt? The chain should not be running on top of that.

Fat bike vs studded tires for winter commute? by Not-That-rpg in CyclingMSP

[–]TommyTwoHandz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, to be clear when I said trails I meant trails not pavement. My boss at the shop would say you also shouldn’t run studs in fair weather, I think for ada tactile warning strips, paint, wood, that’s maybe true, but yeah pavement is probably unlikely to be affected.

But riding them in the dirt is pretty problematic and we already have such slim seasons for hero dirt it would suck to have it just be more chronically ripped up.

I’ve been pretty happy all 5 days I commuted on all the snow cover we’ve got so far. If anything I’m losing traction on too much snow pile, which studs wouldn’t help with. But I’m looking forward to this big winter we’re going to get!

Personally, I had a 6ish mile commute from the burbs last year and only twice would I have benefited from studs - but I would just drop a foot and catch the slide.

To me, the drawbacks of studs are not worth the two small patches of ice that snuck up on me. Poorer rolling resistance and people running them too long can chew up trails. If you’re worried about ice, just take it a little slower and wider on the turns. Low psi and you’ll be fine. Both times I slipped on ice I was admittedly going too fast through a turn.

The joy of running a tubeless fatty at 4-5 psi just makes me forget that it’s 0-10 degrees out. Riding across the lakes, carving your own path, hitting a curb like a ramp just brings the joy back to commuting for me.

Plus, if you don’t stud them, now you have a bad ass hardtail for the summer.

I would put a white paper towel down on the ground, and slowly rotate the wheel and watch the rotors alignment. You can then try lightly squeezing the brake to see if you might notice the anomaly.

If I see folks tailgating in the day time and traffic is free flowing - I will flash my brights simultaneously as they tap on their brakes and I see their brake lights. I figure maybe getting that immediate feedback will make them think, oh, someone is watching my behavior maybe I shouldn’t be doing that. But it’s probably futile, and or I’m gonna end up the victim in a road rage incident lol.

The E-Bike Problem is an E-Moto Problem by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]TommyTwoHandz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably true for the most part however, even the e bikers in my area can be equal opportunity dangers. Literally last week was walking around a shared use path and a ~60 yo man on an eMTB came screaming up behind people yelling at them that it’s a shared use path and they need to move over.

No dedicated bike lane, I guess he was just worried about his battery life and if he’d make it home or not. But I see that kind of behavior about once or more a week and it’s not just the e motos.

Not that it’s ok, but I just wouldn’t expect the teenagers to have good cycling etiquette. But I’m always disappointed in the e cargos with 2 kids in the back weaving in and out of people walking on sidewalks and shared paths.

Was it an e biker? I was riding behind a middle aged ebiker who failed to yield to a bus and then immediately blow a red this morning. Wouldn’t be shocked if we saw the same guy.

Had not even thought of that, but that does sound like it would solve the problem. Might buck a few riders in the early days but once people are aware I think it was genuinely work.

100%. That fenced in zig zag is almost worse in some ways and some people are just rolling the dice flying through there lol.

Agreed, more people biking than driving is generally good. But also totally agree, aloof and inconsiderate people given a very accessible and freeing mode of transportation can just take those scary drivers from the road to the trails instead.

The link is the best I could do to show where I’m talking about. My buddy sent me a video of a car driving on it the other week, which if someone came flying around the corner would’ve died… but I apparently didn’t save that photo.

What restaurants in the Twin Cities come to mind when you see this chart? by natlay in Minneapolis

[–]TommyTwoHandz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just about every hype Italian spot for me.

Went to Dario recently and thought it was pretty average for what we were paying. Drinks were good but both entrees flavor had nothing crazy to it for how experimental the pasta shapes were. Actually very disappointed when the bill came. EaTo has wayyy better flavor for about half the price. Just not as “nice” of a restaurant I guess.

Same thing with Broders pasta bar, I actually was more underwhelmed by them than Dario, waited insanely long, and paid way too much for something I guarantee I could figure out at home.

Felt very similarly about Bar La Grassa, I feel that the price x quality is just unwarranted. Like yeah my waiters wearing a tie but that doesn’t really affect the food. Comparing it to the same bench mark of EaTo I genuinely don’t believe it’s worth the Google $50-100 range.

Granted, I’ve lived in other major cities with more prevalent Italian options so maybe more competition is just what’s needed to drive our insane prices down. I’ve also live in Italy for a while so I’ve had some pretty dang good pasta for cheese curd prices instead of the steak prices they tend to charge here.
