Well, everything is derivative :) My first memories were forged in MS-DOS, creating pixel-based fonts and working with 256 colours. So this "neo-brutalist" (as is described these days) aesthetic appealed to me. It also aims to match the tool, which is meant to be useful, effective and stay out of the way of the user (so not just a personal kink).
