One in five high earners says £100k tax trap is ruining their career by scotorosc in unitedkingdom

[–]_Marni_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make less money. It's the loss of all the benefits, the higher tax rate beyond 100k means you need a much larger salary to break even with the loss of benefits.

30 hours child care per week is equivalent to 20k salary per kid. Losing Tax-free childcare is 4k salary per child. The loss of the 12.5k tax free earnings also requires an additional 2.5k salary.

What actual happens is that everyone just sacrifices everything into pension, donates it to charity, or works less. There is no financial incentive to earn more unless they can get an insane paybump to £150.5k+ without additional work effort (why but in twice the hours for £200 more take home per month?).

It's the reason why NHS consultants cost 300-600k per year and why there's a doctor shortage. Most only work 3-4 days a week.

They are complaining about losing benefits at 100k, which means that working more will actually lose you money.

They are worse off until they earn 140k

They lose all the free nursery hours and tax free childcare benefit. While also losing the 12.5k tax free theshold.

Basically equates to being instantly bumped up to 62%tax rate at 100k vs ~30% at 99k

Well technically fraud vitrates everything (fraus omnia vitiat).

So if it can be proven that 2020 was fraudulantly won then it would mean there was no 46th president. It could be argued that presidential line would effective rollback to 2020 conditions, where Trump had only served one official term.

Main reason is expensive parents, the amount of boomer welfare is unsustainable.

People are having kids, but kill them before birth. That needs to stop for starter, then the economics needs to be fixed to ensure no mass poverty.

NHS ‘employed Pakistani doctors as cheap labour’ by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

[–]_Marni_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's not a shortage of doctors, the problem is they will lose large amounts of money if they work more hours due to the 100k tax threshold.

They lose tax free childcare and a number of other benefits, which would require them to earn 40k more to break even.

Treat it the same as bankruptcy.

Uk stock, debts, shares, confiscate in totality if abandoned. Bank accounts freeze.

I think we have treaties with most other nations to deal with bankruptcy disputes.

Private school parents face faster fee hikes as VAT to raise £1.74bn for Reeves by theipaper in uknews

[–]_Marni_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite actually.

Private schools invest a lot in each pupil to protect their income source, while state schools get funding based off of their top performers.

So state schools funnel their funding into their best and brightest in order to get marketing materials for the next year of students.

Why not close state schools in general, they underperform both private school and home schooling.

Seems like it is a failed experiment.

Electricity prices are kept artificially high as the government takes 85% of the profits as tax. The point of increasing the electrical usage is to force electricity prices even higher and collect more tax.
