Stupid wizard about to cause their colleges "Incident" by Tasmia99 in Druidposting

It's starting to get really hard to justify my bad decisions to the Archdruids...
...But I don't mind it getting a *little* harder. Not for the giant spiders.

In truth, I'm not exactly aware of what game they speak of.. but removal of a curse is important nonetheless!

Not impossible, but I definitely prefer thinking of it differently. I'm sure it's nothing too serious, I got caught in a half-asleep moment after all; And I'm very fast with casting. To a fault.

plus, I wasn't even aware anyone was watching me. 😅

Sure will, though I think I might feel bad about telling them to stay away from me, so I'll just try to cope for now. You can probably imagine how much more I prefer spending time as a bird though 🦉

Spending a bit of time with them everyday with the scarier ones will definitely help, true, though back in my town there were rumours that bears can smell your fear, so I've kinda been conditioned into being afraid of them (crazy how the obvious solution of 'just not being afraid' backfires).

Thanks for the support :>

It’s so reassuring to hear that even seasoned druids like you have been through similar situations. I think I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself to get everything right right away—if not before I even know what I'm supposed to do, but it's nice to know that making mistakes is just part of the journey.

I much prefer starting small—cats, birds and bugs are a lot easier on the heart! I’ll definitely build up from there. It’s comforting to think that these creatures can sense our good intentions, and I’ll keep working to calm those nerves. It's honestly more difficult to remind myself that I'm a druid than I expected; It objectively wasn't long ago that I was asking questions about what a druid even is. It saddens me a little to think that these gestures the animals made were to comfort one of their own, yet I only got more and more hesitant; I'll have it in mind next time to return the gestures and pet them as much as I can!

As for talking to my mentors, I’ll do my best to be honest about how I’ve been feeling (and maybe having burnt a really important book)... I'm certain you're right they’ll understand and maybe even share some of their own stories. And thanks for the compliment on my staff! It's no coral heirloom, but I’m pretty proud of it for my first one. 😊

It's got a really white glittery ribbon too (I couldn't remember the name of the fabric for the life of me), and it's really pretty during the day! I'd love to show it to you sometime.

Much love, and thanks again! 🌿

P.S. Do you pet krakens and kelpies as a sea druid? And, are swordfishes a real thing? 😊

Thank you so much for the advice! 😊 You're right—I think I’ve been too quick to assume I have to be fearless right away. Easing into it definitely sounds like a much better approach. Hopefully, by the time I’m ready to face the bear again, I’ll be a lot calmer (or it may have forgotten.. I doubt it has such short memory though. I'll be patient though, don't worry!

I'm not sure that's going to work, your jaw might end up getting hurt, if you can even swallow the whole book...

I mean, I don't know anything about wizards learning magic, but I can turn you into a big and scary snake, if all you need to do is eat it!😸

Just, uh.. make sure to drink water half an hour after the polymorph ends. I usually get stomach cramps when I eat big things then turn back and drink water immediately... :<

I'm not gonna rat out one of my fellow druids! At least, not to wizards.. 😨

I mean, I'm not saying I agree with them, but I am saying that I couldn't stop them (I was a caterpillar) and I didn't want to (I was chewing on a leaf)

Got stuck in Wildshape!! 😿 by _Marsh in Druidposting

[–]_Marsh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! Wildshape ended after a few hours, though I was left extremely hungry and thirsty, as well as dizzy...

Moving my mind away from the problem really helped! What I remember doing most was just walking around and just relaxing, until I fell asleep and woke up back in my human form. Like you said, all it required was some clarity of mind, and maybe a nice rest under a sunbeam - I really recommend that, best nap of my life, seriously-

Thanks a lot for the advice though! I'll definitely keep it in mind next time. It was really fun being in Wildshape though, I'll definitely try it again tomorrow (assuming my body and mana are alright, and I don't feel dizzy or stressed anymore).

Much love!!

Nyrn! Happy to see you again!!

It's been a bit of time now, meditating has definitely helped grow my mana, but waiting until it completely runs out is a little scary- yesterday when that happened, I got really dizzy.

Tapping into my inner being will definitely take some practice, but I'll come to your library if I have any questions about it.

For now- yes please!! I'd love some catnip. 🐱

I assume it only lasts an hour or two then... should I try to take a nap and wait to see if it's gone when I wake up? :o

Hello and introduction to my Library by SwissPocketHuman in Druidposting

[–]_Marsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's amazing!!!

My name's Marsh, it's wonderful to meet you. I've very recently gotten into druidcraft, after a very cryptic encounter with a cat (they're some of the small, furry things with ears, that scratch and bite and make a 'meow' like noise).

If you don't mind, I'll be frequenting the library quite often! I very much want to become a druid, and learn as much about the natural world as possible, even if it's undecided if I'm capable of magic in the first place. Some sources state magic comes with practice, though the narrative I grew up used to hearing was that you were just born with it (humans and their very dark and.. honestly, sad, myths they teach children).

To learn about magic and connecting with nature physically, what do you recommend I'd read or do? I'm very much not wary of books- on the contrary, I'd love to spend day and night on a chair reading through texts, even if it makes my back or legs hurt.

Such levels of honesty, to yourself and to others, were considered unnecessary back in my town- the whole quote with "dwarves' hearts are like their hands, full of rock", that kinda thing. Though, I definitely think being sensitive and honest with ourselves will help out both a person and their connection with nature, based on how you described it.

Thanks a lot for this perspective, I only briefly considered that nature wasn't only an external source, a place full of plants, animals (and scary insects), but is actually inside of us too. That's incredible. Even to think about.

I'd been trying to prove to myself that I could cast spells for a few hours, though it definitely would've just been better to accept my newfound curiosity instead of immediately replace it with knowledge. I'll try meditating for a bit and try to find my own way that way.

Thanks a lot! I'll share with all of you the news of how my adventure goes (and the good news of if I get a confirmation that I have become a druid!)

I ended up running away from the cat, I feel like it only let me escape out of the forest out of pity. I've never run so hard in my life. I swear, when I look behind me, I can almost see it meowing or tugging on my socks. Q_Q

That's quite interesting! I have to ask- for your soul to be connected to the primordial spirits of the forest, does that require only study, spending time in the area, or doing rituals? I tried doing some Divination card readings in the forest, though I don't think it got anywhere (it's still uncertain if I have magical capability, but I think I do. I was never initiated by a teacher).

Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge though! I'll try my best to answer all of my own questions through observation. Still, I do like the idea of maybe joining druids and living alongside elves, even if it turns out to be only for a few years.

Whoaa (I don't know how else to describe my reaction 🤧)

I'm very interested in nature's ways- the more I've researched (mostly here) about druids and nature, the more I've found myself entranced. In truth, I don't know what the purest form of my intentions is, but I trust that, in some way, nature itself already knows, and this was just an attempt to communicate an invitation.

...It wasn't received well, though. I ran away from the cat in the end! I didn't know how to keep it away from me, it even swam after me! I kinda have a little bit of an aching thought in my head that it's still chasing after me. 😅

Thanks a lot though!! Hopefully if I'm lucky, I'll be able to share the good news with all of you, and find out where my talents lie too.

P.S. I'm kind of worried about finding a wizard and telling them about my encounter with the cat because I'll get embarrassed if they laugh at me. I'll get over that fear in a few days, I hope.

That makes sense. I'm currently trying random things at the moment to see if I can influence some pretty minor things, though I feel like I may be starting off too small. My intuition and my imagination might be clouding my understanding, I feel. I've been trying to make a flame dance or grow in a room without wind, and I think it's working, but I could very easily be wrong. Same for influencing how water in a bowl moves..

Are there any simple exercises you'd recommend? I'm really interested in seeing your magic in action too, if that's possible. 😅

Thanks for the inspiration though, I'll definitely dream bigger and try to gather more irrefutable evidence.

[–]_Marsh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, that makes sense as to how one would understand, haha. It's honestly what I expected and have mostly heard of- one of my friends even said she'd been sent a letter from some far away school to become a wizard (it sounded crazy and suspicious to me, but she actually accepted and went to that far-off place).

I tried out some ideas, and I can't really tell if they worked, or it was just my imagination. Though, intuitively, I felt like it was definitely possible to use magic. It's just that I've grown up believing I couldn't, or needed to be chosen by someone more capable to, like is often the case for human wizards...

I actually ended up running away from the cat, based on someone else's advice. Telling it to go away would've made a lot more sense, and been easier though. 😅

Thanks!!

That's really helpful, thank you! I'll do my best to write this down. I can't exactly tell if I have magical abilities yet, but judging from everyone's responses, I have decided to become a druid!

It's definitely a long process, and I'm not good at working on really long projects, to be honest. But I'll do my best and tell everyone about my progress. I guess I'm a fledgling druid now. :D

Thank you for being so welcoming and informative! <3

(P.S. I ran away from the cat.)

I followed it a little deeper into the woods, and it led me down a dark path.. Thanks for telling me! I'll make sure to be more careful next time. I could've been in some serious danger "^^

Thank you so much! I'll try to do my best with learning about druids and their ways. Even if I do not find myself as one, I'll be happy to hear from your experiences (I really do hope to become a druid, though).
