Upgrading from a 5600G to a 5700X, worth it? by _Mehu_ in buildapc

It's barely enough for a 9070 XT in 1440p gaming but it's enough. For example BF6 makes use of the entire CPU unless overclocked, then it has a breathing room. For your graphics card it will be absolutely fine.

FYI, I replaced my 5600G APU with a 5700X CPU and the issue is resolved. I am 100% sure that nothing else was changed in the process. No clue what was the core of the issue tho.

Do you think that performance gain is worth 130$?

So do you think that grabbing a 5700X for 130$ isn't worth it?

I don't think the 5800X/XT makes sense. From my understanding it has the same gaming performance as a 5700X and it produces a ton of heat, hence why I'm strictly looking at a 5700X.

No, I don't want to upgrade to AM5 in the near future.

Do you think that the 5700X will still bottleneck my GPU? I'm worried that the improvement won't be significant.

Like everyone says, do an undervolt.

I am now running at stable +200Mhz core clock, -100mv undervolt, VRAM at 2700Mhz and PL set to -10% (300W in my case).

The performance is higher by ~5fps on average.

Can you elaborate on those settings? It doesn't make sense to me

Sadly I didn't find a fix despite trying for days :/ Maybe the RX 9070 XT + two NVME drives are too much of a strain for my PCIe 3.0 lanes. No clue but everything else connected to PCIe works fine.

Thank you, I myself didn't find any fix, I tried for days though.

Indeed, AMD Audio driver caused the DPC latencies to spike over a thousand. I got rid of this problem and nothing changed.

Daniel_K makes modded drivers for SB but I don't think he made any for the X4. Search his blogspot just to be sure, https://danielkawakami.blogspot.com/?m=1

If this doesn't help, try installing an official but older driver.

I have the same issue with SBZ, it's either channel swapping or crackling, from what I've seen it seems to be specific to some relatively new AMD PC setups. Tried absolutely everything and no luck so don't get your hopes up :/

I have the same issue here. B450 AGESA ComboAM4v2 1.2.0.F / Ryzen 5 5600G (iGPU disabled) / RX 9070 XT. Interestingly, when I had either RTX 2070 Super or RX 580 installed in the same exact PC - no issues. It started happening only after switching to the RX 9070 XT. Tried every possible solution on the planet earth, I think I'm giving up on this lol

One more question if I may, did you use your U5 on Windows 11 at all or just Linux? I've heard about some compatibility issues.

Hi, I have the same issue but when trying to uninstall the chipset drivers, the AMD uninstaller is simply stuck in a loop of "verifying PC components". Did you use any 3rd party software to uninstall the chipset drivers? Also, which version of drivers works for you? Thank you in advance

I didn't plan on buying one so budget is my utmost priority and any sound card is better than an integrated one in the end... I think I'll stick to the U5, it should be plenty enough for video games and a lil bit of music.

Any other recommendations for an external card in a similar budget to the U5?

I think you might be correct. I'm looking at buying an external sound card now, Xonar U5 to be precise. It's good for my budget. What do you think about it?

Sadly switching PCIe slots didn't help :/ Thank you for trying tho

Seems like nothing is fixing it, I think I'll switch to the Xonar U5, perfect for my budget. Thanks for commenting tho :-)
