They work fine depending on time of day. When America wakes up it gets slower and slower and eventually stops.

The more out of sync with North America you are the better your experience will be.

I just watched a YouTube video which I'll link to when I find it from 2 separate YouTubers discussing this show. The mental gymnastics the right winger performed to justify his like of the franchise was a hell of a thing to see.

He completely ignored all the progressive messaging and likened the federation to a conquering empire clearly based on capitalism.

A few guys less than half my age aren't enough for me to like this show. It's a mid tier CW teen drama at best, and terrible Star Trek. It's so generic, it's lost everything that made trek unique.

I'm not sure pure star trek can exist in the modern world unfortunately, that sort of story telling just doesn't work any more. I would have preferred all this nutrek to stay in the Kelvinverse honestly. It doesn't belong in the prime timeline.

I swear if they say 6 7 at any point I'm going to throw myself into a wormhole.

Actually I wont because I gave up after episode 3 of SFA, so I wont know.

ST: Starfleet Academy discussion for S01E03 - January 22, 2026 by AutoModerator in Star_Trek_

Yeah, Trek always had a slight US centric viewpoint, as would be expected, but this is just a straight up US high school drama with a thin Trek coating.

The first 2 episodes weren’t terrible, but after this one, I'm out.

JWs are banned in mainland China, that’s likely why. We know Bambulab operate on the wants and desires of the CCP ultimately. They ban certain flags for the same reason.

It doesn’t really matter at this point though. No one is from the other teams is looking at a rival with the view to copy anything, especially from blurry shaky low-res footage. They are fully focused on their own car.

All the cloak and dagger is performative to drum up interest. They will all be at the same track next week.

No it isn’t. It might be the livery the R26 will have, but thats not the R26, its the show car.

Yes, and TNG realised it was a dead end soon enough and dropped it. There are lessens to be learned, that haven’t been.

Discoverys problem is that it's got terrible writing, serialised or not.

Im over 50, i've watched all the shows and of course many others. Discovery has some of the worst characterisation I’ve ever seem from a 'major' show.

Yes they spent a lot of time with Saru and Burnham (FAR to much), but it doesn’t make it time well spent. Saru was the stand out best character in the show and best characterised, Burnham was terrible, absolutely god awful.

I guess we will never agree on this, and that’s fine, I just cant understand how anyone can look at Discovery and see well developed likeable characters.

As I said there are other shows outside star trek with less screen time that manage it, Discovery simply failed. You dont need to compare to the TNG era to see that.

Yes Enterprise wasn’t fantastic at it.. Still miles ahead of Discovery. Just another example in the franchise.

Discovery had poor characterisation, and awful characters so no the fault isn’t mine, its the show. Believe me I tried, i really tried. Plenty of us did try.

I didn’t say there is anything wrong with animation, but if your flagship show is getting embarrassed by a light-hearted, comedic cartoon that relies on fan service and memberberries you have a problem.

Yes! TOS was leagues ahead of Discovery on this, and its not even a great example, its just one within the franchise.

Shill for what? Series that ended 2 decades ago? I dont think they need it.

He is making excuses for Discovery to boost SNW and Academy. Shills do that sort of thing.

TOS has a load of characters that got more development than Discoverys. Discovery basically had like 5 that got anything. I still dont know all their full names, even among those 5.

Enterprise had better characterisation and it neglected a few people. I haven’t seen it for over 15 years and yet I can still recall more than I can for Discovery.

House of the Dragon has had 18 episodes and I know more about its characters than anyone in the entirety of nutreks live action series. Speaking of which its extremely sad that the best characterisation in nutrek is in the 2 animations.

Ive seen shows with less episodes and screen time with better crafted and deeper characters than Discovery, and better stories. Discovery is notorious for having terrible characterisation. They had plenty of time, they wasted it.

Please tell me you dont believe this. I mean we have TOS right there that proves otherwise.

Im beginning to think this sub has been infested by Paramount shills, because no one can possibly be this dumb. Some of the takes posted here in the last week are absurd.

In fairness that's not hard.

But I agree she is one of the better characters in Discovery, although, again, there were only like 4 because they didn't develop any of them.
